Sobre con Estampilla

A title wouldn't come to mind except "envelope with stamp" which wasn't very exciting.  Of course that is what the sketch is.  I thought maybe it would sound better in Spanish.  What do you think?

Number 1, envelope with stamp - sketched in the big book with a Micron 02.

Do you still send letters or cards?  I do -- a few.  I know how much my mom and mother-in-law liked receiving mail so I try to send to a few friends.  Not very often or a often as I should.

The US Postal Service gets such a bad rap.  When you think that they have to drive by and maybe deliver or pick up at every address every working day it is mind boggling.  The other services only go to an address when they have a delivery or pick up and that is an extra charge.  We saw mail service in South America and believe me it does not come close to our service.   I haven't mailed anything in over a week and we receive very little mail now, but our mail carrier comes by every day!  She also walks packages to the door.

When you move, mail is forwarded for one year.  After we had been at our present address for almost two years, we had a letter from South America delivered that went to the old address.  Our previous carrier and our new carrier are friends at work and they just talked about it and delivered it.  Maybe not the norm, but they cared enough to get it done.  The letter might have floated around for a few months and made it back to the writer.

I hope you use snail mail once in a while, it is almost as good as painting with a friend.

Perfect title...The last time I spoke spanish was when my Dad was living with us... I miss it. Of course, I'm Spanglish. My Dad never corrected me when I spoke, so I never learned the correct way... I guess this is why I love my blogger friends from all over the World. I can talk to them in spanish...well, at least try! lol
Nice sketches, Jo. I enjoy receiving mail. Like your Mom, when I mail out a card..it feels good.. a bit like the old days.
Enjoy your day!!

Thank you, hmuxo, my Spanish is not great. I don't think in Spanish so have to translate as I go. I have a large vocabulary but bad grammar. I did get by just fine in South America. Chile was the most difficult because they drop the last syllable and use slang a lot. Bolivia was the easiest, they pronounce whole words and not as much slang. I heard some Spanish at home but always spoke English. Gene's family spoke more Spanish at home, but I always answered in English. Started speaking in Bolivia.

I still write individual notes on Christmas cards, not the form letter. I like doing it, but some of my cards are late!

Indeed perfect title, ... makes it mysterious for foreigners.

I do send postcards to friends now and then, ... it's more personal then a E-card I think and we artists are materialists in a sense aren't we? I mean painting aren't in essense nothing more then blobs of paint on a canvas.

Scavenger or sketch hunting, ... I should attend it someday, ... althought I do it almost EVERY day don't I ?

Take care Jo.

Spanish always sounds better, well maybe not when you have a slow west Texas drawl.

I love snail mail! I've thought about starting to write more letters to old friends, but social media and email is so easy.

René, thanks for stopping in. Yes you get daily practice. I haven’t been painting much so my sketching is like homework. Your paintings make me smile. I do think we as artists should definitely make cards to send.

Bag Blog, yep you and I, professional procrastinators, should really write more cards and letters. Maybe. I will, now that I am. Off social media. Maybe tomorrow. :-)

You are so right Jo. letters and post cards are something personal that show you care i am trying to remember when i last got a letter from you. Was it back in the early 70's when i first went to Bolivia. I think we had to write because telephones were few and far between and very expensive in Bolivia. Or later when I went to Peru from Phoenix? by myself for a couple of months, HMMMM

Gene, we did write lots of letters. At times when we were young it was every day. Would be fun to read those now. I used to send you the teletype ribbon and you would write in a spiral from the center of the page. Hard to read but fun......Hugs.

I like the title and the sketch!

Also, the USPS is definitely a vital service and I hope it doesn't get broken up.

Hi Joanna, thank you. We would lose a lot without the USPS. Especially rural folks.
