Fuzzy Tree Sketches

It is the end of Hunt 126 and the start of Hunt 127 today.  I did a final sketch for the Crayola colors and an ink sketch for the new Hunt that NedL posted.

Old Hunt 126, Number 11 fuzzy fuzzy - no such color in my box, so I sketched a small wind up toy chick that is about 4 inches tall.  In the Canson sketchbook with Micron 03 and Crayolas of yellow, yellow orange, tan, brown and wisteria.

Hunt 127 Number 1 tree - part of the cedar trees along the fence line out my studio window.  On the bottom of the page with the chick using a Micron 03.

We went to Austin yesterday for the heart check-ups.  We were about 15 minutes from the doctors office and they called saying he was in an emergency and moved our appointments to September 9.  Do they give us a refund when they cancel??  Ha.  We went to lunch with Joanna at Jimmy John's so not a total loss.  Always nice to visit with Joanna and have a good sandwich.

Today is PT for Gene.  We will see how that goes.

Macaroni and Cheese Sketch

Macaroni and cheese sketch minus the macaroni.  Didn't think to sketch some dry macaroni with the cheese.  Joan did that.  Sigh...

Number 7 macaroni and cheese  - minus the macaroni.  The crayon is pretty orange, perfect for this Longhorn style Cheddar cheese (my favorite).  The letters on the colored part should be white but the gel pen wouldn't write over the waxy crayons, did fine over the black ink.

This sketch is in the Canson sketchbook at the bottom of the page with the jeans from the last post.  Micron 03 ink and Crayola crayons in the colors: macaroni and cheese, cerulean, scarlet, tan and brown. Gelly Roll for the white letters.

Jo's Thoughts (not art) -

I just saw an interview with a Chinese immigrant woman, Xi Van Fleet, that immigrated to the US after Tianaman Square. She is very against Walz. She said, “You can vote yourself into socialism but you cannot vote yourselves out of socialism ."

I agree with that 100%.  You can look up more interviews with her on YouTube.  Think of Venezuela, Cuba, etc.   Free stuff like down payments on houses and student loan payments are not free.  The folks that didn't go to college that work and pay taxes like you and me are paying for the loans of the elite that are now lawyers and doctors ... and congressmen.  If anyone should pay off or forgive their loans it is the Universities that raised tuition when the government "gave" loans to students.

Sketches in Crayons

Yep, I bought a box of Crayons.  Searching online it looked like a box of 64 would have a goodly amount of the colors on my list.  It only had about 6 or so.  It was fun to color with crayons, hadn't done that in years.

Number 2 brick red - the brick wall done with Brick Red and a few other colors including Salmon
Number 3 Pine green - the Christmas cactus with a sub of Forest green from the box, no Pine Green
Number 4 Timberwolf - the bucket done with Timberwolf and Silver from the box and a bit of some blue in the shadow.
Number 5, Robin's Egg Blue - egg carton from the Robin's Egg Blue in the box.

I used a few other colors from the box for depth.  Tried to get an off white on the brick wall wooden part and between the bricks.  No color like that in the box.  

The colors from the list that I used:

brick red                        timberwolf
salmon

It is fun to see the color names.  Not so many of the new ones in this box.  It's probably been at Hobby Lobby for a while, eh?

Yesterday we went to the Empty Bowl Summer Concert and listened to/watched Barbara Nesbitt, Ben Jones and Graham Weber.  Ben accompanied Barbara during her section.  He can really play the guitar.  He is British and quite a comedian.  He said something like he can be silly and say anything while holding his guitar and people listen.  All are friends of Joanna which is not a surprise.

The afternoon was at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Austin with its beautiful stained glass windows.  there are windows along the sides as well.  That is Ben in the lower right corner. 

Our purchases. 
Is the brown casserole dish supposed to represent a loaf of bread or a cushion??  Love the bowl with strawberries in it.  Pretty colors and nice pottery work. 

Gene and I bid on quite a few items.   He is always good at that trying to get the bidding to go up.  No one outbid me, though, except on one item so we ended up with a few items.  All for a good cause to feed the hungry since the money goes to the Food Pantry.  See you there next year??  I could donate a painting for the auction if that would inspire you.  I didn't think of it for this year.
