Sketches for a Week of No Internet

We were without our internet from good old AT&T for a week.  Amazing how much I missed it but how less hassled I felt.  I usually don't use my phone that much.  I don't like typing on it so I did not post sketches or do any "paperwork".  That was the big break but have to catch up now.

Here are my sketches.  I forgot I had done a couple so they are all numbered wrong, I will just skip the numbers.

For Scavenger Hunt 202 - fabric and for Inktober - flimsy.  Sketched with a Micron 03 running out of ink in the Conda sketchbook.

Hunt - up high and Inktober - hero.  The wind blew over some trees the other night.  We hadn't even noticed that.  The tree trimmers were coming to work on the yard, just trimming and cleaning up a couple of other trees that were about to fall.  They had to work very high, tomorrow will be even higher.  So they are heroes to me for doing dangerous work that helps us.  In the Conda sketchbook about a page with the Micron 03 that is about out of ink which gives the fuzzy lines.

For Hunt 202 - pumpkin, some little ones at PT.  An orange one, a black one with glitter and then a glittery orange one.  The sign says "Today it hurts, Tomorrow it works"  In the Ohuhu Sketchbook with a Micron 03
Hunt 202 lighthouse - substituted the windmill because I've never seen lighthouse around here.  The pig is cement I think.  Yard decorations a couple of streets over.  Watercolor added to the Micron 03.

Hunt 202 toy - a string or monkey ball that Gene and I play catch with.  In the Marker sketchbook with Pentel ink markers.  (for Inktober - toss)

Sketches that Double for Hunting and Inktober

I did some sketches in the Conda sketchbook with a Micron 03 while Gene napped this morning.  I had to be quick just in case.  The two from life can double for the Scavenger Hunt and Inktober. The items for the Scavenger Hunt must be sketched from life so the pick-up doesn't fit the criteria.

Number 8 soft for the Hunt - rotten potato (Inktober 8 stinky)
Inktober 9 ram - a Dodge Ram from a photo
Number 7 curly for the Hunt - yarn on Evil Eye (Inktober 10 mystic)

Inktober 5 Ogre in the Ohuhu sketchbook with Ohuhu 0.3 and Inktense for color from photos.  5 minute sketch.

Number 6 for Inktober is "smack".  I have skipped that for the moment.

Scavenger Hunt and Inktober 2026

It's that time again to do an ink sketch every day in October.  I will have to do several when I have time and plan to post every Saturday.  We shall see!  The Scavenger Hunt sketches have to be from "real life" not photos so will double them up when I can.  One prompt is "ogre".  I doubt I will see one of those in real life.  A substitute may be in the works.

I sketched last night at my computer desk for the first four prompts which I adapted for both challenges.  I sketched in the large Conda sketchbook with a Micron 03 pen.

For Scavenger Hunt from Life 201 and Inktober 2026 (prompts for Inktober in parenthesis)

Number 1 Organic (apple) - looks more like a pumpkin, it was yellow and red.
Number 2 oddlly shaped (relic) - pottery shreds my mom found about 90 years ago or more
Number 3 small (miniature) - little pottery jars from Chile and Peru
Number 4 organic 2 (cactus) - a cutting from my grandmother's 100 year old Christmas cactus.

There are so many ideas for Inktober 2026 you can just use a search engine and find many, many ideas.  Some of Joanna's musician friends are writing a song a day.  Wow!  Check out Matt the Electrician here on Instagram  https://www.instagram.com/mattthee

Another challenge on the original Inktober is to sketch a sketch a week for the year.  I think I probably get that done without the challenge.
