Southwest Sketch

Looking southwest from the porch this morning for my sketch.  Landscape was on the list.  I have sketched from the porch many times but not many in the big book in this direction.  It is the same scene as the pastel sketch from a few days ago.

Number 5, landscape - I sketched with the Prismacolor Premier 01.  The nib is about gone and maybe the ink as well.  I'm sure the pen is over a year old and well used.

I wanted to add some color and as you know the paper in the big coffee table sketchbook does not take well to water.  The Inktense pencils seemed a good thing to try.  They are about the same as watercolor pencils and I haven't used them much.  I put some on lightly before adding a bit of water.

And the finish with some water added.  I think I like it better in black and white only.  The paper stayed pretty smooth with such a small amount of water to blend the colors.

I have so many tools now that it is hard to decide what medium to use.  My favorite is still the soft pastels.  What is yours?

I like the addition of colour, makes the sketch seem more alive :)

favourite medium would probably be coloured pencils even though I haven't used them for a long time lol

Jennifer Rose, I like colored pencils .. results. I find just coloring to be boring. Regina and others seem to find it relaxing. I'm Miss Impatience.
