Scavenger Hunt 278 - Aug 9 - 17, 2012

Better get some sketching in.  I worked with the pastels on the old paper from the apple demo in the previous post.  About 20 minutes, mixed pastels in sketch mode.  Hoping this will get me in the painting zone.  We'll see.  Easier today than yesterday....

Number 1, Lassie - no Lassie here, so one of Gene's gifts.  The little pooch is lighter tan.  This color makes him look more like a bear.  Hmmm.

Good idea! Working in pastels for your sketches should be helpful in getting you painting more. The little dog reminds me of a college drawing class. The prof set up a huge display of stuffed animals and had us use our view-finders to pick out and paint in pastels. We all did so. Then in the critique, he said our paintings were too "soft". We all claimed that the stuffed animals were soft, but he made us do them again making the lines very crisp and neat. It was a good lesson.I gave the painting to my cousin when she had her first child. That child is now 35 and has his own kids. Earlier this summer he posted the old painting on his FB. I will post it on my blog, if I can.

Bag Blog, it is a good lesson to do the same painting in different ways or media. Use different colors or lines as you did. It really improves your technique and how you see things.

Anonymous, thanks. Check the previous post and others for more hints.

Hey, Jennifer Rose, thank you. Pastels are great for animals real or not.
