Sketching for Hunt 322, Photos and Painting Note

We started off the day in the usual manner.  For me that means out on the porch with my coffee and my iPad for sketching.  Well, I do check my e-mail and the social stuff, ie., facebook and Google+.  Gene works on his journal and reads the paper on-line.  We quit getting a print newspaper as it was always such a mess to stop it and start it when we are traveling.  The delivery person would not get the message and papers would pile up in the driveway.  Not good.  Now we can read the Austin American-Statesman wherever we are.

I sketched with Brushes and my fingers for Scavenger Hunt 322.  These Hunts are flying by.  It is already the fourth day of the Hunt.

Number 1, plant - the vine on the fence and Number 2, something from the yard next door - the clothesline and fence.  They have some flowers and planters that are more interesting, but I can’t see them from my chair and you know I am not going to give up comfort just to hunt items.  Smile.

Night before last the sunset was beautiful as usual.  Right now to see the main center I have to go to the front corner, so you see some different trees on the horizon.

The moon was out as well.  Very pretty evening.  We enjoyed sitting on the porch.  We had another inch of rain so have had about 4 inches this last week.  Excellent!!

My pastel painting is coming along.    I'm at a point of wiping off and starting over; not because I don't like the painting, but because I would like it to be lighter in value over all.  A good lesson in planning.  Check back for the results, I will post photos.

The following article is good for us that either procrastinate or are in a drought of painting or any work/job.  More or less it says to just paint, work or keep at it.  Once you start, you keep going and feel good about it.  I'm getting close.

I’m Not in the Mood

by Keith Bond

If you want to be a professional artist, you will have deadlines, commitments, and maybe even demonstrations. You will need to perform and will need to show up to do the work. Even if you have no audience such as the demo, you cannot just blow off your responsibilities when you “don’t feel like painting”. [...]
