The color change is minimal. What I'm speaking to here is that when you paint with acrylics, when the water evaporates in drying, the color darkens. These oil paints seem to hold their own and stay very close to what I put down. The white is made with safflower oil which helps me on the odor, I am sure, as you use more white than the other colors. I did not have a headache after using them. I did paint three small paintings and did not use a thick impasto style. I hope to try another with more texture and paint. The paint is not as thick as some oils so I'm not sure how they will work with a knife. I will check it out.

The third is a landscape, the Rio Grande near Hatch, New Mexico, but could be any river you choose, right? This is from photos I took about three years ago when the rain had the state of New Mexico looking green all over.
I am enjoying painting these oil paintings. It is different to get out a brush and smoosh the paint around. I am still partial to pastels. You know I am lazy and when I paint with oils I then have to clean the brushes and palette after I finish, that part is not fun. The pastels just sit there waiting to be used!

Regina, thanks. I know you like doorways and arches. The oils are nice so far. For traveling they still have to dry a while. Guess the old acrylics will do for that. We will see how the thicker application works out.

I like these Jo. Ive been using Artisan for a few years. I love them and they work well with the palette knife.

fishing guy, right river! This is a little north of the border. The Rio Grande runs North to South through the center of New Mexico and makes the border of Mexico at El Paso about 100 miles or so South of this bend in the river.
