"Expensive" was on the Scavenger Hunt list. I thought of jewelry or a car. Then it hit me. My biggest expense on groceries this last purchase was eggs. The bird flu really drove up the already inflated price. I imagine the chicken growers will catch up and the price of eggs will come down. Most mornings we have an egg sandwich so that is 2 eggs a day plus any hard-boiled ones for Gene to snack on. I do not care for hardboiled eggs. You can read about that here: https://jocastilloartblog.blogspot.com/2020/08/no-hard-boiled-eggs-sketch.html
We use a fair amount of eggs for two people. I also use eggs in baking and in complete breakfasts where the eggs are eaten with potatoes, sausage and chile or pancakes and waffles. Very occasionally egg salad sandwiches. For that there has to be a load of ingredients mixed in to cover the hard-boiled taste of the eggs.

Number 4 expensive - eggs, these are in a half carton to keep the hard-boiled eggs separate from the raw ones. In the large Canson Mix Media sketchbook with the Micron 03. I was going to add color ... but ... It is a blue carton for your info.
The temp is 32º now, weather app says it feels like 25º. Brrrrrr. I'm hoping this is the last of winter. I warned you it would be cold for baseball.
Speaking of baseball, the Horns play Dartmouth this weekend as mentioned. They moved the games to noon on all three days. I didn't catch the change so I missed yesterday's game. The Horns won 4 - 3. It was pretty darned cold. It is drizzling now but imagine it will be clear and in the 40s by noon! Hook 'em Horns!

The prices have gone up so much on the eggs. I think twice about using them since some days they don't have any of them in the stores. I'm not a fan of hard-boiled eggs either.
We haven't had problems getting eggs, they just cost a lot. HEB, our store, probably has eggs in Mexico or something. They have a couple of stores down there. We had eggs this morning, 3, and then I put 4 in some banana bread. Yikes.
Well I love eggs in every way possible - I just don't get them often enough. Love the sketch - I keep telling myself I really MUST do some regular sketching but I never seem to get round to it.
Thanks, John. You have been doing some incredible woodworking.
Jo your sketch was an excellent choice. Fortunately for us our neighbor and my brother both have chickens and we can so far have them reasonably. My hubby has a two egg omelet every morning and like you I bake with them. Hope your weather warms up for Baseball this weekend. Enjoy it and have a lovely week. Hugs!
Debbie, thanks. I don't cook as much as the old days, but I still prefer cakes and bread from scratch. Happy to hear you have eggs!!
