Marker Sketches and Help Needed

Footstool sketches while watching TV.  I was more attentive with the shoe than with the measuring cups as you can tell.

For Scavenger Hunt 76 in the large Canson Mix Media sketchbook on a page.

Help Needed....

When we go to The Bugle Boy to listen to live music we try to eat at Ere's Italian Restaurant.  When we went the other night, we were surprised to find the restaurant closed.  Great food and ambiance.

Visar Halilaj, the owner of Ere’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria in La Grange, Texas,  was in a serious motorcycle accident on Thursday June 29.  Visar has 4 children under 10.  The restaurant is his income to care for his family.

There is a GoFundMe page to help his family until he can hopefully reopen the restaurant.  It will take some time for Visar to recover.  If you would like to help here is the link.

Watery Elephant

Another watercolor for the water media challenge on creativespark.art   I'm learning about watercolor but mostly that I need more patience.

I sketched in pencil and then put the watercolor.  The elephant was so vague that I added some ink.  Maybe I should have just made the background darker.   Practice, practice.  You are welcome to come paint along.

We expect the heat and no rain to last through the end of the month.  Wow.  There have been a few fires.  One guy said he had a jug of water in his car and it acted like a prism and caught the floor rug on fire.  Stay cool and safe!!

Back to the Dust - Yay!

I always like pastels.  Playing in the dust is my thing!

Gene and I went to the paint night at 602 Brew Pub on Main.  A few more painters showed up tonight.  It is fun to see the other painters and what they are doing.

I took a box of 64 colors, Mungyo soft pastels and a small box of mixed softer pastels, Terry Ludwig and Sennelier for the dark colors.  Could have used another dark purple, added that to the eyes when we got home.  Didn't want to carry a big  heavy container of pastels.  I just set my easel on the table so I wouldn't take up floor space.  Worked pretty well.  I didn't need many colors for the photo of Chewie that I chose.

I didn't know what to paint (landscape? flowers? still life? )so I took the wiped off piece of Pastelbord 8 x 10 inches.  After we got there I found a photo of Chewie on my phone.  Pretty cute guy.

A few photos from the evening.  Food was great, too.

Watery Iris

Watery iris.  We're you seeing weepy eyes?  I tried out the watercolors again in the Ohuhu mixed media sketchbook 10 x 7.9 inches.  I used regular watercolors and brush.

This is for the July Water Media challenge on creativespark.art.

https://creativespark.art/threads/july-water-media-challenge.5684/

The photos were provided by JStarr living in Arizona.  There is a chipmunk and some architectural things.  You might find one to paint.  See you there???

I think my background is too busy but I am not changing it.  I'm not a "do over" type person.  I should do it to practice, maybe.  Gene could not see the iris.

At least I got the paper wet and practices a little.

Sometimes I Sketch

Sometimes I sketch for no reason and then see if I can fit it into the current Scavenger Hunt.  We went for a routine checkup for Gene and I sketched in the exam room.

For Hunt 75  https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-75-july-5-july-13.5710/

Number 1, sofa - subbing the man in the chair and woman in wheelchair.  He was leaning on her chair.

Number 2, kitchen utensils - subbing the sink in the exam room.  In the small sketchbook with the Acurit 03 pen.

You will surely be surprised by where I sketched this morning.  Surely.

Of course it was on the porch and the pond.  I sketched and visited with Roxx.  Nice morning.

Number 3, Park water - subbed our pond with is close to the playground, uh, park.  In the Ohuhu sketchbook with Micron 03.

It's been fun having company and visiting.  We are probably eating too much!
