When I saw "dodge" on the Inktober list I just had to do the old blue Dodge from the Pie Place where my dad was working way back in the late 50s.
Inktober Day 4 - Dodge, in the Canson Mix Media large sketchbook with Pichoo and Wexford pens.
I came to the ranch when school was out to stay and work with my dad. I shouldn't really say work, I didn't get paid. I really liked being a cowboy and staying at the ranch. We would be there about a month and then go into town. We would get some groceries at headquarters but that was about 35 miles away on a winding rough road over the mesa that took a couple of hours to traverse. The pickup was not new even then. It had heavy board sideboards suitable for hauling one horse.
Guess what? I already told this story here on my blog:

Hope you enjoy the tale.

Inktober Day 5 map and Scavenger Hunt 86 Number 3 how to get from point A to point B - Gene's old bike map from Austin in the BookFactory sketchbook with a Micron 02 pen
Scavenger Hunt 86 Number 4 (I mis-numbered when I scanned it.) Vehicle - the pickup in front of us when waiting for a prescription at CVS in Bastrop. This is on a coaster with a ball point pen from my purse.
Inktober Day 6 Golden - golden retriever and Scavenger Hunt 86 Number 5 and 6 something with legs and Number 7 edible - protein bar which I couldn't spell. Sigh.... I was surprised that the gentleman didn't have a hat on as it is very sunny today. Maybe he had sunscreen on his sort of bald head!
The sunrise wasn't very colorful this morning. Was I too early or too late?

Fun story about working with your dad and the truck getting stuck. Good sketches!
I love your work.

Joan, we had lots of fun and hard work at the ranch. We didn't have any telephone. There was a radio phone of some kind at the next ranch about 28 miles away. No one to call for help. Thanks.
Thanks for coming by R's Rue.
I recognized the coasters and was reminded to put some in my purse, although I did not do Inktober this year. I usually keep a small sketch book, which turns out out be more for notes than sketches.
The blue truck is great! I love your stories about ranch life.
Bag Blog, I haven't been sketching on the coasters very much. Forget I have them. I use the back pages of my sketchbooks for notes, too. I also keep score when we play cards. Fun to look at them the next time we play.
I need to do some more ranch stories before I forget about them. Yikes...
Hey, not-so-anonymous (Joanna), your comments were hidden in my blog comments history. It let you post but didn't send me an email. I only remember to check there about every two weeks. Comments from Helen get hidden there as well. Sigh....
Thanks for your comments. Hugs.
