Sketches for Hunt 67

We had our coffee and bagels on the porch.  I sketched in the ArtStreet sketchbook with a Micron 03.  These are things I have sketched many times.  I didn't want to so scavenging so played the lazy card.

You can always click the image to see it a bit larger.

Number 2 rough - the wicker weaving on a rocking chair
Number 3 smooth - Genes metal thermos coffee cup
Number 4 tree - one of the Loblolly pines
Number 5 bumpy - the glass on the hummingbird feeder

After a while Gene wanted to walk.  It is one of the best things he can do for the Parkinson's.  We walked toward the playground so I took the Ohuhu sketchbook and a Micron 03.  I sketched in that mixed media book so I could add watercolor when we got back.  I haven't used my watercolor markers in a long time.  I forgot you have to blend and add the water very soon after making your marks.  The directions say not to put water directly on the marker tips.  I tried to cover too much area before blending.  Next time I will work in smaller areas.  The colors are nice and rich, maybe I should try them for a background for still life.

Number 6 playground - this is about half of the items.  There is a teeter totter, a tower of some kind to climb and more things to climb on.

Our house is showing its age.  We had to have some roof repair.  We had to put in a new garage door opener and a ladder to the attic.  Now the septic system needs some hoses and a new timer.  Hope we don't need a whole new motor.  We have really put this house to good use, it has been perfect for the two of us.

I got the new battery in my phone.  It is guaranteed for 6 months!  The restaurant was OK, they have beer and liquor but no wine???  The food was good but nothing we would eat regularly.  The ceviche was good but of course not like Peru.  It was served in a big bowl with fried corn tortillas.  In Peru it came spicy with corn on the cobb and cooked sweet potatoes.  We do get memory food in our brains and don't find local substitutes as good as we remember.  Same with the Tex-Mex and New Mexico Mexican food.  I think the food in New Mexico has a big influence from the Pueblo and Navajo Indians.

Gene is off on his trike so I'd better ride the stationary bike a while. Ciao.

I like the burst of color in the playground scene! Glad you two get to go walking and that Gene still does his bike riding. I know how important they both are. Sorry the restaurant was a disappointment, but I agree that the memory of food in our brains sometimes makes it difficult for us to be happy with what is in front of us. Hope you rode the stationary bike.

I like the bright colors of the playground. As for food, Peru had some good stuff. And I agree that New Mexico is influenced by the Pueblo and Navajo Indians.

Joan, the playground is so colorful. Even the trash cans have colored wooden boxes around them in blue and purple. You understand food, like where to get a good lobster roll. :-) I did ride the bike.

bag blog, thanks. The playground does look like fun. The ceviche in Peru was the best and with a Pisco Sour with it. Yummmm.
