Sketches - Watercolor - and Baseball

Hope you had a good weekend.  I got in a few sketches and a watercolor in between baseball. I sketched on my footstool and we watched a "Frost" on DVD.  Frost is a British detective.  The program was on quite a while ago but we enjoy them.  I think there are 20 DVDs so about 40 programs.

Number 6 square and 7 favorite color.  We have the plastic canvas coasters I bought on E-bay.  Gene's mom used to make them and they are the best coasters, no slip and catch the moisture.  They are both square.  I couldn't decide on my favorite color so chose the red and blue on the coaster.  Sketched with the Zig Millennium 05 pens.

Number 7 gives you calm - some new Dove soap I got by accident.  It has lavender and chamomile in it.  Light blue in color.  I wish they would change the package a bit more when they try new items.  After I got that I got some more.  Got home with what I thought was regular Dove and it is "lightly exfoliating".  Dove is supposed to be smooth and creamy.  Sigh.....

Number 8, spice in your life - a couple of bottles of hot sauce.  We always have Tabasco for some reason, don't use it much.  Larry brought the other Tex-Mex idea.  He was the last one to use that.  Ha.  Sketched at the dining table with a Prismacolor Premier 05 that is running out of ink.

These were for the Scavenger Hunt from Life on creativespark.art

I also wanted to do something for the water media challenge for the month.  Photos provided by JennieJo.  (I like that name)

These leaves are in the Canson watercolor sketchbook, 9 x 12 inches.  I used regular watercolors and the waterbrushes.  The dark background was smooth in the photo.  After I finished I thought I should have done the background with a regular brush so it would be smoother.  The waterbrushes keep adding water.  With a regular brush I could just use an even mix.  I am pleased with the result overall.  Just always need to practice with watercolor.

I also need to get a better pink. I have three different alizaron crimson.  None of them give a bright pink.  Maybe I need a rose-something.  The reds I have don't work either.

We never have enough art supplies!

The Longhorns won their Super Regional and are on the way to the College World Series in Omaha.  They begin on Friday against Notre Dame.  Notre Dame won over Tennessee which was a huge upset.  The other teams in the Horn's bracket will be Texas A&M and Arkansas.  Old rivals.  Hoping the Horns continue to do well.

They had to win the best of 3 in Greenville, NC.  They lost the first game, won the second in a cliff hanger and then won big last night.  The game ended at 1220 more or less.  A weather delay of 5 hours.  Yikes!  And of course I had e-mail sent at 12:40 to get me to buy Omaha t-shirts and one at 1:00 a.m. to promote ticket sales for Omaha and season tickets for next year's season.  No time wasted to try to make more money.  So Hook 'em Horns!

Jo I think you did a great job with your watercolor. So vibrant. I use Rose Madder Genuine for a pretty pink...it is Winsor Newton brand...Daniel Smith also has one as well. Yes we always need new art supplies...it is my weakness🙄! Hugs

Thanks, Debbie. Also thanks for the color recommendation. Sounds like a trip to Hobby Lobby.

I laughed at hot sauce to spice up your life. I squeezed out all sorts of reds - alizaron crimson, quin red, rose this-n-thats...trying to find the right pink. I should have labeled them. I know which ones I like, but still don't know what they are. sigh.

bag blog, thank you. I wonder what pink is in my watercolor markers. Hmmm. Will check that out. Sounds like you have too many choice and I need more. Ha.
