Sketch for the End

Yep, it is the end tomorrow of the current Scavenger Hunt from Life.  I will be the next host and have the list ready.  The list is Texas towns.  I posted it some time ago on the old Scavenger Hunts on wetcanvas.  Recycling with a couple of changes for this new Hunt on creativespark.art

#10 bowl of something - one of the candy dishes.  It is black and white with a blue interior from the Empty Bowl project in Austin I think.  I'm pretty sure I have sketched it before.  Hopefully it has new candy.

I started the sketch with a Lamy pen but it was out of ink.  I was at the dining table so used one of Gene's Pilot ballpoint pens.  This is in the regular sketchbook.

You can tell I sketch freehand.  Always lopsided and leaning left.  I don't like doing an under drawing in pencil.  I get bored doing things over.  Sometimes if I am doing a drawing for a card or to frame I will sketch lightly in pencil just for size or shape.  I haven't drawn a big ink drawing to frame in years.

Back tomorrow with the new list.

Gene has his PT review tomorrow so maybe a sketch from there.  He is getting ready for cataract surgery next week as well.  Oh, so many doctor appointments.  Isn't it fun getting old?  I always wondered about the "Golden Age".  Now we know.....

I don't know but my "Golden Age" has not been very golden.

Wish Gene a good cataract surgery next week. Jerry will be having his that day too. The doctor warned him not to expect his vision to improve with the surgery. It is being done only to make it easier for the retina specialist to be able to do the next surgery and remove the blood from his eye. I feel like we've been living at the eye doctor's office lately.

I remember you posting a scavenger hunt list before with Texas town names. That should be interesting to do again.

Ha, Gene. Maybe we are better off than some folks. Glass half empty sort of thing.

Joan, Gene's left eye is sort of the same. They will remove the cataract and see if they can do a little with Glaucoma but it is pretty far gone. The other eye will be operated on in a couple of weeks and it should be pretty good with the cataract gone. Wishing you guys the best.

I usually sketch with a pencil first. When I don't pencil first, things are often wonky. Then I correct with the ink shading as best I can. Sometimes it works well. Sometimes not. I don't do as many inks anymore, either.

Toby finished his physical therapy for his Achilles tendon surgery. Now he is going back to the "smart-ass" doctor to see if he should do the other ankle.

Thanks, I do use pencil too for drawings but usually not for sketches. Happy Toby finished his therapy. Gene is through until after his eye surgeries.
