Yesterday morning was sketching with a regular old Pilot ballpoint pen in the regular old Canson sketchbook, 9 x 12 inch size, about 2/3 of the page. This sketchbook was started in 2014 so we shall see how long to the finish. I sketched at the dining table pretty quickly, maybe 30 minutes.
For Scavenger Hunt from Life Number 8
Number 4, in a bag - corn chips, HEB brand in a black bag.
Number 5, in a can - jalapeño bean dip, HEB brand in a mostly black can
Number 6, in a box - GrapeNuts, regular box from Post
Number 7, used to attach - a clip Gene made from a cheapie pants hangar. They are handy for attaching and in this case keeping the bag closed.
Number 8, made of metal - the galvanized bucket around the poinsettia. I sketched this while watching TV on my iPad with the Brushes app. It looked better in the dark. Ha. The poinsettia is getting a bit bedraggled.
We received notice that my landscape/trees, Puddles was accepted for the Austin Pastel show in Austin. There were 108 entries with 60 selected for the show. Awards will be on February 5 by zoom. I will post the details of when the gallery is open in Austin and when the paintings are online for you to see if you can't see them in Austin in person.
Puddles, Pastel on Pastelbord, 12 x 12 inches.
The painting will be framed in a 3.5 inch mahogany colored wooden plein air frame, with museum acrylic glazing. I'll try to remember to get a framed photo.
Tonight is Art After Dark in Bastrop at the Lost Pines Art Center at 6:00 p.m. All the new show is up and the featured artist is Sonja Kever. Sonja is a friend from the Austin Pastel Society. Her paintings for this show are oil paintings. I have two paintings there as well. See ya there.

Great that you got the in a bag, in a box, and in a can in one sketch. Good luck with your entries into the Pastel Show.
Joan, thanks so much. It is good to get in the show. I'm disappointed there won't be a reception live and in person.
Beautiful as always.
R's Rue, thank you so very much.
Oh Jo I just knew you would get accepted. That landscape is so beautiful. Good sketch of grapenuts, corn chips and jalapeno dip. Have a blessed week. Hugs!
Debbie, thank you. It helps to sketch things you like and then eat the models. I am happy to be accepted to the show. Now to frame the painting.
Congrats on getting into the Austin show! How very cool! It is a nice painting. I also like the pen sketch - all the lines and detail.
Bag Blog, thank you. I hadn't entered the show for a couple of years with all the zoom stuff. They are having the awards "reception" on zoom???? I've always liked sketching with a pen. Fun.
