I did a lot of Bob Ross Watching as a beginning artist. Then I used the VHS tapes to fall asleep, he had such a soothing voice and manner. He inspired so many of us to paint, saying that any of us could do it.

I only remember seeing him a few times. I guess we didn't have great TV or I was busy with kids or something. A cousin recently painted a Bob Ross with her son and posted the paintings. Both paintings were not so great, but they seem to have had a wonderful time painting together. That is what is important.
Bag Blog, Bob used to come on every weekend in ABQ and Phoenix and I watched with Gene’s mom. I had a bunch of VHS tapes that I recorded so watched them to put me to sleep. He inspired lots of folks. I also had a bunch of Helen Van Wyk, also oil painter. Excellent for basic principles and color theory.
