Texture Sketches

Scavenger Hunt 658  was full of "made of" items:  fabric, plastic, wood, etc.  I chose a few for my sketch.  It can be difficult to portray texture in pen and ink.  I try different techniques and usually end up with regular hatching.  This sketch is in the big book done at the dining table with a Micron 02 fine line marker/pen.

Number 3 wood - bowl
Number 4 fabric - napkin
Number 5 glass - martini glass (it is not crooked in real life)
Number 6 metal - shaker for single martini

Gene used to drink vodka martinis.  I guess he would still have one once in a while.  He likes them very dry with a twist.  He has a little sprayer for the vermouth so his drink can be very dry.  I'm a margarita gal myself.  He makes excellent ones!

I also sketched in the big book with a Prismacolor pencil for the Southwest Monthly Challenge.  We paint or sketch from one of the other artists photos.  I thought these donkeys were neat.

I intended to put up one more photo from the big bird hunter last post and forgot.  The light was so pretty on the steamy water and edges of the trees.  You can barely see the bird.

Better get some chores done now.

Thanks, Jennifer Rose. I think I'm about 3/4 of the way through the big book. I hesitate to count the pages. Ha.

The light in the trees is very nice. You should paint it. I love the mules, too. I'm a margarita girl too.

Bag Blog, The photos never really catch how pretty the light is. One of these mornings I need to paint it from life. I have the fixings for just a couple of margaritas and a mini blender, maybe this evening before the limes and lemons go bad. Got them for Jennie's birthday and didn't make them. Hmmm. We'll get Gene to make us some in January, too.

Nice sketches of the "made of" items. I like martinis only if they have some kind of flavoring in them. The vodka is too strong a taste for me. I do enjoy a nice margarita ...especially with a good friend!

Joan, I'm not a martini fan either. Yes, we need some margarita time again! Thanks.
