Flags and More

I didn't sketch.  We went to Lowe's yesterday to get something for Gene's trike I think and I got some hanging flowers for the porch.  Gene hung them and the hummingbird feeders which we haven't put out for a couple of years.  We will see if the birds remember us.

We passed some big flags flying in the breeze.  The first one here is at the Chevy dealers and is huge, you can tell by the size of the cars below it.    The other two are at the bank by Lowe's.  Not sure what bank it is.  Hmm.

Beautiful.  I love our flag and I love the United States of America.  I posted about the flag and the song "Ragged Old Flag" by Johnny Cash here.  https://jocastilloartblog.blogspot.com/search?q=ragged+old+flag
We are getting close to Independence Day.  It will be quiet here this year.  No community celebration in Bastrop.  I am very sad about that.

This is Gene the day before taking down our flag as it was starting to rain.  He is good about flag etiquette.

My Canadian artist friend, EP, sent me this Canadian song for Canada Day which is July 3.  She said it reminded her of me.  I guess I'm always telling her and the Scavenger Hunt folks about things we miss in Canada after spending ten or more summers there.  Fun song if you have time.

Happy Canada Day to the folks up North!  A bit ahead of time.

***Correction, Canada Day is July 1.  Thanks EP, for letting me know!

For some reason the car dealers often have those huge flags.

Loved the song that EP sent you. I really laughed through parts of it.

Jo I love to see our American flag fly. These are lovely photos to celebrate Independence day. It will be quiet here in our state as well. Although I have heard that private firework sales are up so there may be a few seen around. Take care and have a good week.

Joan, thanks. The song is a good one. Made me smile, too.

Debbie, thank you. There are fireworks stands all around here, too. We do have fire danger and hope people act responsibly. People shoot guns off. Those bullets have to come down someplace. Oh well. Have a Happy Fourth!

I am very disappointed in the hummingbirds, so far i have seen only one, it was a Ruby Throated in prior years they have found the feeders in a matter of minutes. The feeders have been up three days and only one? They must be really mad with us ad are going to boycott us. Too bad!

Gene, Ha. There are so many feeders around the neighborhood. They will find ours. Thanks for commenting.

Earlier this summer, we had a couple of hummingbirds, but I put out new food after they drank the first round, and they rarely come back. Maybe my second round of feeder fluid was not as good.

Bag Blog, I think sometimes the hummers find so much stuff to eat they stay close to the biggest batch.
