I think my mind went on a vacation. It seems like I am in a fog. I did get a sketch done for the Scavenger Hunts. I kept putting off posting and when I did, well, I put it in the wrong thread, area. At least I got a sketch done. That makes me feel better. I have come into my studio to the computer quite a few times since yesterday morning to write this. Here goes:
For Scavenger Hunt 634 https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/topic/scavenger-hunt-634-may-23-31/
It should have been for 633. I sketched in the big book with a Micron 02 and added colored pencil for the green.
Number 1 green and Number 2 flower.
The back green belt area is very green. We have had good rain this week. The grass is so tall that the flowers don't show much out in the field. I did a bit of a close up on the wild flowers, Mexican Hats. They are so pretty. Joanna walked on Saturday around the lakes and said there were lots of dragonflies but hard to get good photos.
My sketching area on our screened in porch. The big book, pencils and pens. Do you see? I'm more than halfway done!
Morning light out back this morning. It was just super gorgeous today.
For newcomers, we lost our house in the big fire in Bastrop in 2011.

I told a bit about buying my sketching chair on this post
https://jocastilloartblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/stir-crazy-but-sketching.html
It was so funny that day. I said on that post that Gene was trying out an electric recliner. He wanted to try the chair and it wasn't plugged in. He found a worker, not sales person, and they plugged it in for him. He sat down pushed the button, the chair went back and then flopped over to the left almost dumping him out. When I showed up, he was laughing so hard and had to show me. No wonder they didn't have it plugged in! I sat down on a chair to watch him. I looked down and said to him, "I'm buying this chair." "What for," he asked. "To sit on the porch and sketch." I knew he wouldn't say no. I don't like recliners but the chair is an upright chair or you can but the back in some reclined positions so Gene likes it, too. I like using a footstool instead of reclining. I love my chair.
We bought the chair in October and by the time I wrote the post on November 9, we had our house picked out. I knew we would have a porch eventually.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

I love the sketch of the flowers!
Thank you, Joanna. I enjoyed sketching.
I’m really impressed with the progress in the sketchbook - you go! And totally jealous of the chair and the porch. Gene is a good man. :-)
Great sketch of the flowers! I had to laugh at the story about buying the chair as well as Gene sitting in that recliner. I take a very long time to make decisions about buying things...which sometimes is a good thing, but more often not so because I don't end up buying what I need for too long. lol Looks nice and green there. We have sunshine today and I hope to get out for a while. Right now I'm waiting to hear how Jerry's surgery went. It is so hard when you're not there.
Rose, thank you. Gene is gruff on the surface, they used to call him Mean Gene at work. He would never tell me no if I want something. He is sweet and sentimental underneath.
Joan, Thank you so much. I can't imagine not being at the hospital. Blessings to you both...
I can just see Gene laughing in the chair that fell over. I'm surprised he didn't buy it just for a joke. I don't think I realized you had a screened in porch. Toby wants one. He wants to sleep outside in one - like when he was a kid.
Bag Blog, Toby has a good idea. I will tell you a hint we got when we screened in the porch in Austin. Don't make the kick plate/bottom rail very high. You can't see over it when you are sitting or in the house. The porch in the house that burned was already done and the rail was about halfway up. When seated you couldn't see over, just see the sky and trees...mostly trees there. We enjoy the porch like an extra room. It already had the roof, part of the main roof. Excellent. I used to love sleeping on the porch, too. We haven't done that in years.
