I had a great morning. Met up with Joan Bohls from Bastrop at Monte Verde Lake and we did some watercolor practice. I stopped at The Bump and got us a latté. Super start to our day.
I was going to sketch in the large watercolor sketchbook but started in the smaller travel sketchbook and just continued on with it. (click to see larger view of photos)
I sketched with a Prismacolor 08 fine line marker/pen and added watercolor. It was good to try some different colors and just play with no expectations.
Some boats and fishermen. The house in the back was my model for the sketch. The lake is not huge and is part of the Angel Fire Resort. You pay an hourly fee to fish, catch and release I think. I did hear the office person say the stock they expected the day before hadn't come in ... so???
Yesterday, Gene and I went to Taos for his physical therapy. I sketched in the office while we waited for Scavenger Hunt 597 http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1469165
Number ?? feels light - the papers on the bulletin board.
We drove back through Questa and Red River. I wanted to go to Tia's for another Frito Pie. It wasn't quite as good as the first one. Maybe because I wasn't as hungry and it wasn't the first on our trip. I still enjoyed and Gene had an enchilada, New Mexico style with an egg on top. We didn't stop in Red River or Eagle Nest, just came on home. We had a nice nap when we got back.
Just at the edge of Taos as we left.
A little farther on the road, I like the sage.
The sky was open and beautiful on towards Questa.
The valley as you top out of Red River toward Eagle Nest. It was a beautiful "cloud" day.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Love that painting at the top. :-)
Thank you, Joanna. It was a perfect day to sit and sketch the view. Always good to paint with friends.
such lovely scenery :)
Jennifer Rose, it is beautiful. Reminds me of around the Great Lakes in Canada or B.C. but with less water. :-)
Oh, these photos are so scenic! Glad to hear you did some watercolor practice.
Joan, thank you. It is beautiful here. Probably great in ski season, too, but not for us! Watercolor in sketches is getting easier, but not in a big painting!
