Watercolor Broom

After watching Rae Andrews do watercolor on YouTube, I figured it has to be easy, she just whisks the paintings right out.  She does the same in pastels and acrylics and probably oil.  Of course she has been doing it for many years and is a great instructor.  You should try a class.  She is a lot of fun and knows her stuff.  http://raeandrewsgallery.blogspot.com/
She has instruction on her blog and a YouTube channel.

I tried blowing the paint with a straw.  It worked  but was in a thin straight line.  I must need more water ...or wetter paper ...or something.  It will take some practice but it was fun to try.

 Number 5, broom - about a 30 minute sketch

I subscribe to EmptyEasel and have for a few years.  There is always instruction and much information about techniques, media, business, etc.  They are adding some new stuff and I found this 'how to' column interesting.  This is oil, but they have all media so you will find something of interest to you.

This is great Jo, it look rustic and simple. The strawberry technique does take practice but it’s great fun.. getting close to the paper first and managing short blows will help with the paint going everywhere..
Have fun, love seeing you do these sketches..😊

i would always run out of breath trying to use a straw with watercolour, a hair dryer works for me lol

Ha, Jennifer Rose. Thanks. I think I would need a bigger painting for the hair dryer to blow the wet paint.

I like the broom, but it makes me dizzy just thinking about blowing the paint.

Bag Blog, ha, you reminded me of when we were kids trying to blow up those penny balloons. Took every bit of air and then some..... (Watercolor not nearly so hard to blow around. )
