The Bastrop Sketchers went to Elgin, Texas, to sketch today. We met at the Owl Wine Bar and Vintage Home Goods on Main Street. It is a neat store. The bar looks old but was made for a movie. The stools appear to be from a diner, not an old bar.
We had lunch at the City Cafe. It was very good. Fun to be with other artists and play in the ink. Lucy and I sketched the bar and Pomona sketched me. She is teaching a class about placing people in your paintings so guess that was more fun than still life for her. She and I are going to Smithville to sketch next Wednesday if anyone wants to join us. We hope the weather is good for sketching outside. It was good today, but we stayed in as the owner of the building let us in .. they don't open until noon.

Number 4, stack of - napkins on the bar and books in the other sketch
Number 5, jewelry - pocket watches on the bar and jewelry in the other
Number 6, exotic lamp - the lamp behind the bar has three owls. The lamb on the dresser is pink ceramic with red roses and greenery. It looks very old and was pretty big.
Scroll down or go to older posts, I posted 3 or 4 blog posts today. Somehow I forgot to post them. Sigh.....
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Wonderful sketches Jo!!! Lots of great details....especially the jewelry!!!!
I hope you have the perfect sketching day....
hmuxo, thanks so much. Sketching is more fun now that I do it all the time. It still feels like homework sometimes. Ha.
This looks like such a fun place to sketch...so much too!!
good job with the perspective :) looks like a great place to kill a few hours just looking around :)
Thanks, Joan. It was like a restaurant with too big of a menu. Hard to pick anything. Furniture, knick knacks, antiques, paintings, books, fun!
Jennifer Rose, thanks. I actually sat at a table. Not often we get that type accomodations for sketching.
You have all the fun! Those sketches are great.
Lou, we did have fun. The store wasn't open so no morning wine. We ate across the street and had wine with lunch!
