I sketched in the big book on the porch .. quickly yesterday. Gene was cleaning off the furniture and vacuuming the rugs to store. Yes, we have to get things off the porch even though this is the nicest weather for sitting out there. The Loblolly Pines give off their powdery yellow pollen for about a month. It stains when wet but for some reason doesn't cause many allergy problems. It is so fine and covers like powder.
A sample of how it gets on everything.
Number 2, appliance or power tool - vacuum cleaner
Gene usually doesn't complain about my quick drawings, but his head didn't make him happy. On the other hand, I did make him a bit slimmer than in real life.
Stefan Baumann, oil painter, has some fun videos with good instruction. He is dramatic in dress and attitude, but I like watching. He made videos with the National Parks for PBS and also makes videos of some of his classes. Fun for me to watch and have learned things, too. The techniques he talks about work well for pastels and acrylics. Design can apply to most media including watercolor and collage.
