Rushing Sketch

I wanted to post about our evening yesterday and didn't have a sketch for today.  I had to rush  a bit as I am going out to sketch downtown.  So like the boy in the ad, I'm rushing to get things done.

Number 7, magazine ad - this is from  the Texas Exes magazine.   Cute ad, should have taken more time.

We went to music last night.  We went to Neighbor's Kitchen and Yard  http://www.neighborstx.com/
It is a neat venue but not great service.  We got there about 7.  There was a long waiting list to sit on the deck to listen to music.  We asked to sit on stools against the rail with no table.  Fine.  There were 3 or 4 tables completely empty the whole time we sat there.  Finally about 9:15 or so we moved to one of the empty tables.  Maybe they didn't have enough cooks so just didn't seat anyone.  We've had that happen a couple of times at other restaurants.

The music was the Frauleins.  Two of the trio are from the Carper Family group that we like so much.  Melissa the bass player went back to Arkansas so they only play when she comes to town.  Jenn and Beth started this trio with Amanda on bass.  Very good, too, you can't take away the music!  We enjoyed the evening.  Of course they sang, Fraulein.

We were up a level on the rail and the only lighting was hanging lights so my photo isn't great.  I put a snippet of their music on Instagram.  I think you can find their schedule on Instagram or facebook.  Worth a listen for sure!! Bluegrass/country.  Beth can really play that fiddle.

Bastrop has beautiful lights this year.  Lots of trees wrapped in lights and the river walk has Christmas displays about a mile long.  I will go another night for more photos.

There was live music at four or more locations and many people downtown.  It was First Friday, but we didn't get to other events.  Beautiful evening about 70 degrees at the start and down to 65 or so.  Perfect...... for December!

These little trees in the back are beautiful fall colors in the sunrise.  you can see a little fog in the back over the water.  As the sun gets higher the trees are mostly brown.

I'm off to sketch down by Neighbor's.  We will see how it is today......

The patio looks like a great place to sit and listen to good music. Sorry about the service.

The fall pictures would make a nice pastel. A friend from the Houston area posted a comment on FB the other day. It said something like: It's December and the leaves are finally changing.

Bag Blog, the patio is great, been there for ages, overlooking the river. They used to call it the Yacht Club. We ate there when we sketched, too. They were out of chicken salad at around 2:00 p.m.

I've painted the little trees several times. Now they are big trees!
