we have a monthly challenge. One of the artists post a few photos. Artists can paint or sketch any or all during the month or after. You may also crop or rotate and paint as you like.
I am not fond of painting from photos and I'm not fond of the color orange so decided to do a simple sketch of the pumpkin stand. I cropped most of the photo out and sketched with a Micron 01 and a Prismacolor Brush Pen.
The other photos are more complex but more western. :) I was looking for simple.
The sketch itself is in the big sketchbook and is about 5 x 7 inches.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Nice sketch! I've already used up so much orange paint. lol It seems that there are more pumpkins around than usual.
Joan, thanks. I was surprised at all the white pumpkins and variation in shapes and colors. Lots to capture on paper.
I've been doing pumpkin paintings and more pumpkin paintings. I did sunflowers. I did a fall painting. I'm about ready for winter now.
Your sketch is nice. I like your varied shading techniques. I've been working with my little girls on shading with a pen.
Bag Blog, you have been busy. Thanks.
I have been practicing that darker shading a bit. Joan Tavolott that posts here took a class and I like her technique. I think it will be great for the cemetery sketches if the sketch group ever gets there! Not a place I'll go on my own. Ha.
really nice sketch :) reminds me a lot of the road side stands you get in Ontario :)
Jennifer Rose, I think the stand is in Arizona of all places. Joan Tavolott has been sketching stands in NY and it reminded me of that. Too hot here, the pumpkins cook.... You have to be sure they have shade. Ha.
They do have pumpkins in large numbers at the grocery store and other places. Our grocery had so many different ones this year. White, green, lumpy and weird shapes.
