It was very pleasant in a camp chair in the shade of the car.
This sketch is in the watercolor sketchbook. It's about the size of typing paper. A gift from Sue Modrak, my artist friend that encourages me to sketch more. She buys me a sketchbook every time we get together!
I am going to try to add the watercolor later. I wanted you to see the before and after.
My subject.
The pump house.
A previous post where Sue and I painted at this location with pastels in July, 2014. I love the painting of the pump house. We traded a painting and I chose that one!
I'll post Sue's painting here and then you can go look at the post and the next one about our days that trip.

As I have said many times, it is soooo good to go paint with a friend. You become inspired and rejuvenated. Try it sometime!

Number 9, eastern - I hoped to show the eastern sunlight on the trees out front. I couldn't do it well in black and white and I was too lazy to get out the pastels, so here you are with Brushes and the Apple Pencil on my iPad. I try to keep it sketchy instead of a complete drawing and even so this took about an hour. So time consuming.
This doe was out back this morning. There has been a doe and a couple of bambies that we saw several times. No babies with this one so we don't know if it is the same deer.
Soooooo quiet here without the "kiddos"!
The TV news of the aftermath of Harvey is horrible. I cannot imagine the angst from being evacuated more than once and losing everything. There is good news about all the help from other people, even those that lost so much or have damage of their own. Also help from folks from other states and countries.
The Texas grocery chain H.E.B. is super. They provide meals, water, and much more. I saw that in San Marcos, they were out of regular gasoline so they were selling premium at the regular price. As the ads say, "I love MY H.E.B.!" (I know other businesses help, too, and am thankful for that.)
I also saw where other stations were selling gas for $8 and there is some looting. Crummy people!
We are still in Angel Fire and doing just fine.

Love the sketch - for someone who always said sketching felt like homework, you are very dedicated! Good job Jo.
Hi, Rose! Yes, I keep thinking if I sketch enough the painting bug will return. Small spurts now and then. Thanks for stopping in.
