I made sure my sketches fit in Scavenger Hunt 492

That was a good way to get both things done. I sketched in the travel sketchbook with the Micron 01 to warm up.
Number 1, from your garden - from Lucy's garden. A big cement round block, didn't ask what it was for, but it is a historic house so maybe something from 100 years ago. Anyway the flower pots and stand were on the block. The goat head is attached to the round pot and I thought it was separate so I didn't connect it well. Next time I will investigate before drawing. Know your subject!!
Number 2, sketch a friend - Pomona sketching in her leather folding sketchbook.
Number 3, a hat with bonus of it on a person - Joan with her hat.
You probably wouldn't recognize either person, but fun to try someone you know.
Number 4, garage, shed, guest house, etc. - Lucy's guest house. I should have spent more time on it. Beautiful with the gingerbread and curlycues on it. The main house is equally decorated. It is one of the historic homes in Bastrop. Just gorgeous.
We had fun. After sketching we decided to go eat at Viejo Tacos. We got there and the main dining area was full of the Red Hat Ladies. Ah, well, went across the street to Maxine's. Good food there so not too disappointing. Nice to visit with friends I hadn't seen in a while.
Then I started home and thought I should stop by the art center and get a latte and see if artist friend, Jo, was there. Well, the Red Hat Ladies had the same idea and the coffee shop was full to the brim! Funny.
Jo made us come coffee and we visited for a while. There was also a gentleman artist painting/drawing in the lobby. I introduced myself and turns out it is an artist I have known on wetcanvas for a few years. We had talked about his move to Bastrop but hadn't had an opportunity to get together. Nice coincidence, eh?
It made for a nice day. Art and friends are always good and inspiring. Try it sometime!

That sounds like a great day - food, friends, and art!
Bag Blog, it was a good day. Sketching away today, too!
does sound like a great day :) love houses with porches big enough you can spend all day there if you want :) dream house would have a wrap around porch, love them but not very common here lol
Sketching with friends is always fun...and add food makes it even better. lol I love sketching at someone else's house where the objects are fresh to my eye. I get tired of sketching the same things I'm always looking at here. You got a lot done...nice!!
Joan, I hope the small group sticks with it. See new things! Thanks....
