Absent But Not Missing

Boy, where have the two weeks gone to?  I missed posting for a whole Scavenger Hunt.  Now I have too many photos and too much to say.  I will have to separate my thoughts!  We had company and went to Houston to a baseball game.  I will start with our rain today, though.  We have had 6 inches this morning.  About 5 of it came in 2 hours.

This was about the time we had one inch or so.  The yard was flowing.

After the six inches the dam was overflowing.   It usually overflows near this bank by the big tree.  You can't see the overflow in the first photo.  We had not seen this since we moved here in 2011.  Our lakes had filled in October for the first time.

Someone was checking the westerly lake.  You usually don't see water behind those closer trees!  You can see our corner full of water, too.

We won't flood in our house unless something weird would happen, but I am sure there are many problems around.  Thankful to be here!

Thanks, Jennifer, for you note. We and our kids live out of the flooding. Our daughters in-laws in Houston are flooded. They had something like 11 inches of rain in a few hours. Yuck. Water in their downstairs, so sad.

Thanks for checking in Jennifer Rose, our extended family is all fine. There were some others not so fortunate. Hard to combat Mother Nature. We are getting a bit more rain today but all is well.
