Travels and Sketches

The old saying about how time flies when you are having fun appears to be true.  We have been busy here in Angel Fire (AXX) and around New Mexico.  I last posted here on July 22.  Wow a week of silence out of me ... must be a record.

Sketch wise, I started in Albuquerque (ABQ)

For Scavenger Hunt 414   http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1384410
Number 1, smooth - mirror at hotel
Number 2, glasses - glasses on the sink in hotel
Number 3, old - travel mug from Love's I've had for years, probably since we used to go to Canada

Number 4, something you eat - chips
Number 5, keys

Number 6, ( I put 5) represents a memory for you - a wind catcher that reminds me of the Balloon Fiesta in ABQ

Number 7, used when wet - dish cloth on sink
Number 8, used when dry - towel on door

Jason Horejs at Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona, has had a mentoring student  for the last two years.    You can apply to be the student or you can apply to audit the class. As the student you get tutoring, a stipend and a show at Xanadu Gallery.  Great opportunity.

I have monitored the classes for a reasonable fee. I learned so much and will probably do it again this year.  Well worth the effort.  It is especially good if you are trying to get into a gallery.  Lots of advice and help.

We traveled south and visited all Gene's brothers and sisters and my sister.  Unusual to see them all on one trip.

We went to Albuquerque to see our great great grand nephews or whatever the official name might be.  They are now 3 years old.  Never a dull or quiet moment when those identical twins are around.  You ask who did something and they point at their brother and say, "That guy did it!"  We ask where is your brother as we can't call them by name.  If you ask, What is your name?" They both give the same answer, so that is no help at all.

Gene playing with brother.  They had so much fun.

Coming into Albuquerque from the west.

The Ladrones from the Highway 60, Magdalena side.

The Ladrones from the Albuquerque, I-25 side.

Coming into Albuquerque from the south.

Near Santo Domingo south of Santa Fe.

We had a visitor that got into the hummingbird feeders.  We thought it was a raccoon, but the size of the tracks points to a bear!

Me taking photos on the way from Taos to Angel Fire.

 Sunset in Angel Fire.

A new thistle to me.  The flowers have thicker tube looking petals and are smaller than before.

Jennifer Rose, it is nice to be here in the mountains. Gene joked that we would leave the feeders out and try to get a photo. Decided we didn't want to have a bear checking in daily for food! Thanks on the sketches.

Oops, we had company and forgot the feeders outside. No bear visit, thank goodness. :)
