I sketched in the living room and then realized Gene was out on the porch, so finished up there, sketching his hand. These are in the same large sketchbook with an older, scratchy Micron 05.
Number 1, pencil sharpener - this is Gene's but I like it because I can put it in my pocket -- no corners!
Number 2, eraser - well used
Number 3, crossed fingers - Gene's, I get tired of sketching mine.
We walked around the westerly lake this morning, you can't really walk around the other as people's yards come right to the water as do the trees and brush. I mentioned that it takes about 30 minutes and is about a mile.
Gene investigating some tracks in the mud. Were they dogs, big dogs? There were some big bird tracks, maybe the egrets and herons. There were also something like raccoons maybe. Interesting. I should have taken them, too. Sorry.
Toward our house. The lake was about as big as the rippley part before this last big rain. More than doubled itself, eh?
There were a couple of osprey on the fence posts and as I was trying to get the photo some smaller birds attacked and they both flew off, but the one hadn't left yet. We were quite a ways away, so lucky to get this shot.
The day before we walked on the street and saw some of the nearby residents.
A small herd of cattle.
A turtle trying to hide.
A timid rabbit.
I've been working on my list for New Mexico and painting in pastels today. Here is the small beginning of my list.
I have sketched it a couple of times. It works great on wasps which Gene is allergic to.

That sketch of Dad's hand is kinda creepy! :-)
Great sketches and an insight into your world
I've been without internet for the last several days - staying with my mom. She fell and broke her upper arm. I'll blog the story.
I saw watercolors on your list :)
Ha! Joanna, isn't there a creepy movie about a hand going around choking people? I was sitting to far away to draw it properly, right? My story!
Polly, thank you so much.
Aw, Bag Blog, not a good week for you. I'm expecting my personal water color teacher to stop by in Angel Fire! Give your mom a hug.
those electric flyswatters hurt! lol
aww poor little turtle (i like turtles)
really nice photos of the lake, looks gorgeous!
Jennifer Rose, yes, great fly swatters! The little turtle was probably about a foot long, not too little! We are lucky to have such a beautiful "back yard". :)
