Sketching on the iPad for Hunt 389, Draw a circle - tip

I sketched on my iPad for Scavenger Hunt 389 this morning.  I was too lazy to go get a sketchbook.  I have a bit of a cold.  Anyway, I used the app "Brushes".  It took about 40 minutes.  Yikes!  Way too long for a simple sketch.  Sigh.....

Number 1, non-dominant hand
Number 2, dominant hand
You can see the edge of the iPad, too.  I drew this with my dominant hand.  You wouldn't recognize the hands if I had used my left on the iPad.  Really.....

I see that I sketched that on the eighth of February.  It is now the eleventh and here I am catching up again.  I sketched this morning at the kitchen table in the large sketchbook with a Micron 05.  I see they are leaning left again.  I have talked about that before, I think it is because to write you put the paper slightly slanted and I do the same for sketching.  I should practice keeping it straight like I do my painting.  Might help on both counts.

Nuber 3, can change from hot to cold - my coffee, even in the glass thermal cup that was a gift from Brandon with a silicone lid (red) from Joanna.  They know I like to drink from glass/ceramic and were helping me keep my coffee hot.  This system seems to work the best from my cups.  The lid helps on all cups.  I just don't like drinking from plastic or metal.  Sigh....
Number 4, item containing chrome - a retro stool, which seemed like such a good idea.  The steps do not stay in place when you lift it,  so it is awkward and a bit heavy to move around.

The real deal.  I should have sketched them this way, right?

I have painted a little.  Probably post that tomorrow.  I have been updating my website, moving sold stuff to archives and putting up my newer paintings.  I need to have it ready for the show on February 6.  So far I will show the Pump House from this summer, the Bluebonnets I started last May or June and finally finished.  I have painted a walk in the park and am working on one of our backyard all in pastels.  Art Connections shows my pastels only, no oils or acrylics.  Gene has a lot of framing to get done and I have more work to do.  :)

Joanna found this tip for drawing a circle freehand.  Pretty clever.  I would need training in how to keep my hand still.  A bit of practice is needed perhaps?  Joanna said that Dave Hax, the publisher of the video, has other how to videos as well.

I hope your cold goes away quickly.

My watercolor class is coming up soon. I had a friend come over and paint with me. She is not a painter. I wanted to try my teaching technique on her and see where I needed to improve. I figure there will be lots of non-painters at this paint party. My friend was helpful.

It's kinda funny that your sketches are leaning, Mom!

Good luck with your class, Bag Blog.

Bag Blog, we have one of the slow roller type colds. A bit better every day.

Sounds like you found a perfect way to practice your instruction. Wish I could be there!

Joanna, the left thing is strange on the sketching. It just happens. It "must" have something to do with holding the sketchbook like a writing tablet. Hmmm.

i've never written with slanted paper, might be why my writing is rubbish lol

we had one of those retro stools, hit myself many times with the steps when I moved it around :/

Jennifer Rose, did you have penmanship in school? We had it for a year and I had lovely writing at the time. Not so good as I age. Ha.

I thought the stool would be great as we had an old high chair which looked similar and we took the back and arms off and used it for a stool. We would step up on the cross bar and stand on top. It had a metal seat under the padding. This one has cardboard or some such so you can't stand on top! Bad investment, but it looks cute in the kitchen. Heh, heh.

they did teach us cursive from grade 3 onwards. lol mine was so bad I was made to write out the dictionary to try to improve :p didnt work lol

ours was great as a stool to get away from mice :p mom would use it to get up high away from them lol (mice dont bug me, I would be on the ground laughing from watching mom :p)

Jennifer Rose, you made my smile for the day. You had plenty of practice!

Good stool story, too. LOL

Fun sketches, Jo. That stool reminds me of one that my aunt had in her kitchen, but it wasn't red. I like the character that color gives to it.

Joan, thank you. I really like red, have lots of it around. :)
