Pastel Experiment, Sketches and Challenge

I was looking at photos to paint in Photoshop Elements and did some textures and such.  I liked the outlining and thought I would try it on a pastel.  Yesterday,  I did a quick painting of a rooster and did the outlining with a marker.  It did not work very well.  I think if I had some ink and used a brush with the ink, that might work.  The marker just filled up with pastel and didn't make sharp lines. I would like it better in black, too. I will try again with ink one of these days.  At least I painted and it was fun.

Rooster Fun, Pastel with marker, 5 x 7 inches

You might ask what I will do with the rooster?  I washed him off and started some geraniums on the Pastelbord.  I wasn't happy with the flowers.  I was too heavy handed and will work on it another day.

I sketched for Scavenger Hunt 335, too.  I sketched in my studio and stayed away from the computer for the morning.  I sketched in the regular Canson sketchbook with a Prismacolor Premier 03 fine line marker/pen.

Number 1, hand holding something
Number 2, ocho - a playing card "8" it looks quite large, it was a regular size poker playing card.
Number 3, fruit

Number 4, light bulb
Number 5, modern - a card reader that I use to put photos from my camera to my iMac.  Probably not so modern now with bluetooth in cameras.
I'm hosting the Monthly Challenge in the Southwest forum on wetcanvas if you care to sketch from my photos.  Here is the link to the thread.  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1333650
The theme is "Cowboy Garb".  You can sketch from the photos I posted or from your own as long as it is southwest or western related.  I don't often sketch from photos so that is a challenge for me.  Let me know if you sketch along.

I almost forgot, we have some different artists in the family out in Arizona.  Super mechanics!  UDC Auto Repair

I love the colors of the rooster. When you wiped him off, did the marker stay? Can you cover over the marker if it did stay?

I've been working on a painting, but got it too bright. So, I did some wiping and redoing. It still needs work.

Thanks on the colors. That is the colors of the rooster. He is the same one I painted several times before. He is one of the protected chickens in Bastrop.

I'm glad you are painting. I sure like what you have been doing so far,

The marker stayed, I just put some dark colors on thinly and wet it down again. You can cover about anything as long as you haven't gouged the surface.

The rooster was fun. :-)

So, that's my cousin once removed at the end of that video, eh?

Joanna, I will try it with ink. I haven't replaced my ink. You must be right on the cuz. He is your cousin's son.
