APS, A Few Sketches and Photos

I went to the Austin Pastel Society meeting on Sunday afternoon.  Enid Wood did the demo.  It was educational and fun.  Her work is beautiful, especially in person.

The Pastel Society is making a nice donation to the relief funds here in Bastrop in our name.  That is so wonderful and special to us.  Very nice group of artists.  Thanks to all of them!

I sketched some while washing clothes.  I sketched the heater yesterday.  All are in the brown paper sketchbook with a Prismacolor Premier Pen 05.

Number 7, heater

Number 8, triangle.  The taillight on a car.  Why is it so hard to find triangle shapes?  I always have problems with that.

Number 9, Blue - I had a large selection in the trailer as it is decorated in blue and we have cups and other things sitting around.  But I found this while sitting on the porch at the laundry room.

I haven't been spotlighting an artist lately.  Please go have a look at a cousin, David Graham.  He is an artist and a cowboy and David knows how to portray the real thing.

**********
We went out yesterday and bought a refrigerator, washer and dryer.  We bought a bed a few weeks ago.  Gene has been wanting a Tempurpedic so we decided to go for it.  We bought a table and chairs for the dining room.  I wanted an old pedestal table like I had before and we found one at a consignment store right across the road from here.  Cool!  I picked out some other "stuff" too, so we almost have enough to get started.  At least things are coming together.

I don't really know if you all are interested in our clean up progress at the burned out house, but you are stuck as this is sort of my diary and the only place I document happenings except on the calendar.   So .....

This is the last of the rocks and ashes after the walls were pushed down.

A couple of photos of the stumps.  We removed 96 trees plus the 12 or so that the electric company took down.

A few of the trees on the right of way as they sit awaiting pick-up by the County.

Larry and Joanna put up the flag for a while.  Just sad, but I do love the flag!

From the house toward the street.

Down the driveway toward the house.

Before.  It was still pretty dry don't you think?  As I said before, the oaks were tougher.

And a happy ending.  The little horses, donkeys and llama here at the RV Park this morning.

Ah, Jo. My heart is heavy for you. Good on you for getting it cleared so quickly.

How are things going with the new place? I hope you love that Tempurpedic. We did that for a big anniversary this year - I love it and haven't slept so well in years. It does take a bit of getting used to, but it has won my affections!

It does look sad and probably will for a while, but it is amazing how the green will come back.

I always like looking at David Graham's art work - cowboys and art a good mix.

Rose, It is better to look forward. The closing should be in a couple of weeks. Slowly buying some things to be ready with the basic welcome kit. I miss that. When we moved overseas we would move in with a welcome kit until our things arrived.

Bag Blog, There is green on the oak trees. Just really need rain instead of wind. I admire David's work. Wish I knew him better.

You must have worked like crazy to get this looking so neat. Amazing how a few pieces of things survived. Sounds like you're shopping up a stom!

Joan, we have been doing lots of shopping which is not my thing, but it is getting there. I can't wait to put my feet up with a glass of wine and sketch while watching TV. Ha.

Just looked around for something triangular and...nothing. Hmmm...

Joanna, the triangle is hard to find. I did the A-1 Sauce label once. Heh.
