Don't forget to check out the challenge to win a book on the upper right of my blog! You have until September 12.
We are on the road again, this time to Socorro, New Mexico. This is for a family birthday gathering. It was supposed to be for the August birthdays in Gene's family, but I think it is just general birthdays as most of the nine brothers and sisters will be here with some of their families. Should be fun and lots of food including New Mexico chile which is always good. We had dinner with Roger and breakfast with Roger, Prescilla and Ernest. Both included chile!!
I sketched for
Scavenger Hunt 234 when we arrived. I sketched free hand in the brown Utrecht sketchbook with a Prismacolor 05 pen/marker.
Number 12, shelf - the shelf under the TV in the room, Number 13, bag - two plastic bags on the shelf, Number 14, box - a box on the shelf. Number 15, best friend - Gene, not too bad considering it is about 2 x 3 inches.
Number 16, pack - a pack of gum, Number 17, veggie - a read stretch/substitute to use "corn" chips for a veggie. At least they are baked.
Some photos from the trip here and the sunset from the night before. The photos are not in order, the internet here is so slow that I just put them in any way blogger would take them. It was a nice ride down with clouds so not as hot.

Some cows waiting for the traffic to cross the road. At least I hope they waited! |
|
Some horses across the Rio Grande close to the rafting area. |
|
Rain across the way from Taos, probably near Tres Piedras. |
|
Rain near Socorro, you can see the Magdalena Mountains way in the back. |
|
My usual capture of the Ladrones with the Rio Salado running a bit in the foreground. My dad could always tell where the rain run off was coming from by the color of the water. I would guess this is from Alamo or closer as it was not very red. |
|
Back up to Los Ranchos de Taos, the corner of San Francisco and the highway. I hadn't noticed this large mural. Duh.... It is catty-corner from the Presbyterian church and depicts the Catholic church a half a block further on. |

Sunset in Angel Fire on Thursday evening. |
|
The same sunset a few minutes before the previous photo. More yellow. |
My mom and dad always said, "Red skies at night; sailors delight. Red skies in the morning; sailors warning." Guess this was a bit of a mixture. Friday was rainy in some areas and sunny in others. :-)

Awwww... (For the best friend sketch.)
Love the sunset photos. Of course.
Thanks, Joanna. Always think of you and Mom when I see sunsets.
