Hunt Number 235

It is so hard to believe that we have finished 234 Hunts.  Wow.  There are several of the artists that have taken part in all the Hunts, since 2006.  I should be an expert, eh?  It is interesting that my style has not changed much.  It is like handwriting.  I can copy other work, but when I do my own thing, it is my style!

I have improved in some ways.  I sketch faster and easier than I used to.  If I put my mind to it, I can sketch quickly and more accurately.  It has helped my painting as well.  When I paint I can make firm and sure strokes with the pastels or the paint brush.  I usually sketch with a pen to prevent erasing and over correcting.  The Hunts have challenges to use other equipment to sketch and that is good, too.  A change may inspire me to paint.

I encourage you to sketch regardless of your style of painting.  Sketching from life will improve your work, whether you do abstract or photo realism.  Life form drawing (the human form) is the best, I think, but I don't have an opportunity to do that very often.  Whatever your muse, get your sketchbook out and have at it.

Join us on the Hunts, you don't have to post and comment, but to me it is encouraging to visit with the other sketchers.  It keeps me going and I don't have to think about what to sketch.  The plan is made, and changes every 8 days,  and I sketch things I never would have tried  - under the sink or the trash come to mind.

For the start of Hunt 235, I sketched in the brown paper book with the Prismacolor pen, freehand and quickly.

Number 1, heap - the heap of wood, logs and lumber across the way.  Evidently to be used for the fireplace.  Number 2, sharp - the table saw across the way.

I did not post my last sketches from Hunt 234, so here you go.  Same sketchbook and pen.  I did sketch some Tombow watercolor brush/pens and used them in the second group of sketches.

Number 18, tube - the cover for the small brush toothpick.  Number 19, stick - the sticks in the arrangement of grasses.  (This condo doesn't have as many interesting decorations as last year.)

Number 20 set of - a set of brush/pen watercolors.  Number 21 sofa - the corner of the sofa with a cushion.

I think your sketches have improved. You do seem more at ease with your sketches. I recognized Gene in yesterday's post.

Thanks, Bag Blog. Gene is a reluctant model. :)

Thanks, Joanna. It is easier for sure.
