First Friday

It was First Friday last Friday.  There were quite a lot of folks in downtown Bastrop.  At my gallery I had continued the Austin Highlights show.  We served wine, sangria with or without wine, cheese, grapes and crackers.  We had some visitors that were not at the show for the December First Friday so that was great.  It is nice to see new visitors.  We had some old friends stop by as well, including our daughter, Joanna.  Thanks, Joanna.

Temo Perez was the artist in the Guild which is in the same building.  It was his first show in Bastrop and was very good.  I have a few photos to share.

Temo explaining his technique and colors on his sculpture.
Rock sculptures and paintings.  The limestone tray is a favorite of mine.

Front of the sculpture Temo explained.

Portraits, Gene liked the center one.  Such beautiful expressions on these.

The abstract wall.

After First Friday closed about 8:30 we all went over to Anita's for dinner.  Anita's has been open directly across the street from my gallery.  They moved down next door to Bastrop Copier is a larger and very nice setting.  They are going to be open on Friday and Saturday evenings.  They have only been open in the mornings and for lunch.  We are excited to have a restaurant on our end of the street open in the evenings!  Their Mexican food is all homemade and very good.

I'll be at the gallery today from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Come on down!

Hi Joanna, I had a good time. I finished the bookmarks I was working on, took down Johanne's and Jan's work to deliver to them tomorrow, rearranged paintings on the wall, uploaded EMQ albums to iTunes and visited with Temo. Good three hours!

Y'all sound like you have such a good time amongst great artists and friends there in Bastrop. Art, galleries, good food, laughter... and sangria!

I'm green with envy... stuck out here in the sticks with the coyotes and bears ;-)

Teresa, Hmmm. Coyotes and bears aren't all that bad. I enjoyed my few years away from the Guild and keeping home with my artwork. I don enjoy talking and visiting so the Gallery has been good for me for this time in my life. Today was fun. Visitors from Columbia and from BC in Canada. Lots of stories and fun. I didn't paint today, though.
