Colored Pencil with No Glass

All you colored pencil fanatics, here is a way to frame with no glass.  I have mentioned this before.  Nicole Caulfield is an amazing colored pencil artist.  Her work stands out in a crowd.  :)  She is another generous person and has written this post with detail in how she works on Pastelbord and varnishes the colored pencil.  You will love looking through her blog at her work.

I tried it once and enjoyed doing it.  Well, as much as I like using colored pencils.

San Miguel Church, 10 x 8 inches, Colored Pencil on Pastelbord, Varnished, in a copper colored plein air frame.  Looks great.

Don't forget about Deborah Secor's pastel book, Landscapes in Pastels.  She is a great pastelist and has written a "how to" book in great detail and posted it in it's entirety for us to peruse and learn from.  Free! She has written for the Pastel Journal and is a mentor on wetcanvas.com in the Pastel Forum.  She lives in Albuquerque and gives lessons there.  You could meet her at the International Pastel Society Convention in Albuquerque the first part of June.  She will probably be giving a workshop at that time.

Have fun with these artists.

You are most welcome.....

Sheila, thank you so much. Colored pencil takes lots of patience which I don't have. Ha.

I've always admired those that can spend the time with colored pencils. I just couldn't keep it up for any length of time.

Becky, you and me both. I get bored if painting/drawing takes too long. Your new blog looks great, I'll check it when I have more time. Thanks.
