I am pleased that I received an honorable mention for the painting, Summer Aspens, a plein air that I painted in Angel Fire this past summer.
Janis Langley, Member Exhibit Chair; Britta Herzog, President APS; Jo (me); and Eve Larson, Judge of Show |
Here I am with the Summer Aspen painting. |
The judge was Eve Larson. The reception was very nice with artists and visitors from the church.
Jennie and I went to the Austin Pow Wow on Saturday. We both enjoy that so much. I love the colors and their native dress. The people are warm and gracious and make you feel welcome. They are very patriotic and the Gourd Dance honors the elders and military. The Grand Entry is always great with the flags and the Indian national anthym and the Star Spangled Banner. The young lady that sang the Star Spangled Banner had a beautiful voice, so sorry I didn't get her name. Very impressive. Here are a couple of bad photos. They only have the lights in the gym and from rows up you cannot capture much. You will at least have an idea of the beautiful scene.

Friday was the First Friday in Bastrop. It was really fun. There were many artists, art patrons, good food, music and good times. Lester Sensat was my featured artist and of course I deleted the photos by accident. I will get some this week. Drat. More people are learning about downtown Bastrop. The restaurants all had good crowds, too.
The raffle for the Festival of Trees tickets was a bonus. The tickets were won by Lea Cundy, Bastrop clay artist. The lucky ticket was pulled from the bowl by Lester Sensat. You can still get tickets for the Festival at the Crisis Center, 512 321-7760.
Empty Easel has a review of popular articles for the last four years. It may surprise you at what we want to know the most. This blog is well researched and popular. Almost a million viewers for these articles. Now is a good time to look it over. There are some great hints for doing a blog and website.

Congrats on the honorable mention. There must have been some pretty stiff competition.
I thought the Texas Rangers ran all the Indians out of Texas :)
