Oklahoma Sketch and Photos

We are in Oklahoma City! The drive up went well. We checked in and I had time for a sketch before we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel. Not a favorite but walking distance and cheaper dinner without wine. Ha.

I sketched in the medium size sketchbook with a Micron 03, sepia pen, freehand and quickly. I try to have a good look and then draw. When I don't my sketches get pretty wobbly and crooked. This one is OK.

Scavenger Hunt 178, Number 1, oven - the microwave and Number 2, refrigerator - the small one in the room.

As we left home we passed a wreck right by the golf course. The car evidently rolled over and ended up on its wheels just inside the fence at the course. I didn't have my camera out yet.

This is Taylor, Texas. There were a few sprinkles but not even enough to wipe the windshield.

Another 30 minutes or so down the road, another wreck. Hmmm.

Oil wells and cows together, always interesting to me.

We arrived in Oklahoma.

There is always lots of water in this state. I was surprised at that the first time we passed through.

I was wondering today if this was a big famous ranch or a dude ranch. I found a virtual Lazy S Ranch on line and there is a letter as you scroll down from the top from the real ranch manager. The sign is 300 ft. x 75 ft. Wow.

And some wildflowers.

And some hills and rocks.

We passed right by the Ballpark on our way to the hotel. This is from I-40.

This is Toby Keith's restaurant with the guitar on it. It was pretty good, but big and noisy.

That wreck looked pretty bad.

'Meant to say I'm glad you avoided being in any wrecks!

We are hoping to be there, but probably not in time for lunch.

Glad your trip is going well. Looks like the microwave in the hotel room has more than one use! lol

Joan, that is the best use for the microwave, don't you think? We like it for sure. :)

Enjoyed the quick "tour" of Oklahoma!

I'm not a ball fan, but those photos look like they beg to be painted! Love the springy greens, the beige-terracotta dirt and the shades of blue-gray-violet in the white of the uniforms.

Teresa, only an artist thinks of baseball uniforms and such in shades of blue-gray-violet. :) Thank you so much.
