This is my pastel painting framed. As mentioned this is a donation for the Family Crisis Center Dance on January 23. I hope you can go bid on the painting. It is a $195.00 value, bidding will start at $100.00. Good luck!
I take photos of my pastels in direct sunlight. Very little tweaking is needed for the photos that way. Gene frames them sealed against the glass and then placed in the frame and taped again to assure a good seal. We have been doing this for several years. I have written about this before. How do you frame your pastels?
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Nice painting, Mom!
Thanks, Joanna. I delivered it this morning.
I bet they were thrilled to get it!! It's really great, Jo - are you going to have prints available?
Regina, thank you so much. You know me an prints. Framing a print costs as much as my paintings, so might as well buy an original. Ha.
This is great, Jo! I'm sure it will do well to help the Family Crisis Center.
I don't sell framed work as a rule but usually ship works with a mat. However, I don't like the look of a mat with most of my work so am endeavoring to master "glassless" pastels. It's just very time-consuming to do for me, at least.
Hi Jan, Thank you so much for your encouragement for the Crisis Center. They help so many people.
I frame work like this to donate and if I have a show. I frame pastels against the glass. Gene tapes the Pastelbord to the glass with clear artists tape and it is one piece, so if the buyer wants to change the frame it can be popped out and put in another frame. No mats. No pastel dust flying around, etc. They look so good.
Hi Jo!
Yes, I'm still alive! Been scrolling back through your blog to see what I've been missing... and you HAVE been busy! Enjoyed reading about your Christmas decorations and food... so different from traditional holiday food around here.
Re: donating the painting... Good For You!
Hi Teresa, I know how hard it is to keep up. I appreciate that you visit when you can. Thank you so much.
Lovely job on this!!! I hope it raises a heap of money!
Hi Joan, thank you very much. I hope it raises money, too.
