This is an artful weekend. Yesterday we went to Regina's studio warming. She has a wonderful studio that is so inviting. It makes you want to paint! There were some great folks there, wonderful food and wine. We had a fantastic afternoon. Of course I carried my camera around in my pocket!
Today is the Austin Pastel Society meeting with a Painting in the Round. Regina Burchett, Johanne Morin, Debra Richardson , Mike Etie, and John Bittick will be painting. They will start a painting and then after 10 minutes move to the next artists painting and work on it for 10 minutes. The artists will finish up at their original spot and finish off the work. They will be done with some great paintings in an hour! This is fun to see and you can learn a little about painting faster and with other artists' equipment. :) Very entertaining to see how differently the artists work and their varied technique. If you want to come watch, the meeting starts at 4:00 p.m. at Tres Amigos Restaurant - 1801 South Capital of Texas Hwy (Loop 360), Austin, TX 78746. You can even purchase the paintings with the proceeds going to the APS scholarship fund.
I did a couple of sketches for Scavenger Hunt 162. I used a Micron 05 pen in a regular sketchbook. I work freehand as quickly as possible to practice for painting. It is the last day for this Hunt. I didn't get many done. Sigh.....
Number 5, ceiling fan. This is difficult perspective. I was trying to show that the fan is on.
Number 6, shoe. A different shoe. The pair I drew the most has finally been sent to the trash. It is so hard to love a new pair of shoes!
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Jo - I had such a fun weekend, once I got past all the stress! :-) It was great to see you both days, and I even enjoyed yesterday.
After five artists working on each painting for ten minutes, it's pretty impressive how well all five pieces turned out: http://blog.fallshadows.com/2010/01/25/austin-pastel-society-artist-paint-around/
Thanks, Regina. I really enjoyed seeing you, too. I always like to see how you work and interesting to see the other artists in action. They are great paintings, I will link to your blog and post some I took. I think they will put some on the APS site, too.
Oh, Mom! You and your shoes! :)
Hey Joanna, I sketched my shoe again today. Ah, a different pair. Surprise!
