National Day of the American Cowboy

It is National Day of the American Cowboy (Follow the link to find events today and for the weekend all around the country.) which always makes me think of my Dad. He was a working cowboy, always working for someone else. He didn't have much, but lived a full and interesting life.

My Dad and son, David

You can read about him in this Father's Day post.

This is a photo I had on my blog with a link and now the link isn't good so I will post it again. My Mom and Dad getting ready to go out to something important. My Mom was like me and never wore a dress ... hmmm. The photo is taken at an apartment I lived in in Albuquerque and the pickup is from the Pie Place ranch. Must have been a wedding or funeral for them to be dressed up and in town.

And for the cowboy artist link, here is about my cousin, David Graham.

I love that picture of your parents. My dad had a 1955 GMC pick-up truck that I learned to drive in. The truck in your picture looks similar to that model.

I didn't realize that David Grahm was your cousin. He is cute and talented - I should have known:)

My Dad could get stuck in the mud after a sprinkle. We walked many miles instead of driving. Ha.

David is long distance, I know his grandmother best as first cousins. :) Easier to say cousin.

Jo: Wonderful painting which speaks to the cowboy life. I always loved cowboys and grew up in a movie era in which the cowboy was honored and usually the good guy won.

fishing guy, that was sure true. They were amazing, doing all sorts of technical work .. plumbing, building, etc.
