We golfed at Valle Escondido and went to Española for dinner and some shopping. Supercenter WalMart in Española (I needed a golf bag). Taos has an old regular WalMart. A long day but good. These photos are along the way and back.
No art. Tomorrow is an art fair at Eagle Nest about 10 miles from here. I will check that out and paint or sketch on the way back.
Here is todays photo journal. A few of the 164 I took:

These clouds are from a few days ago, I just like them. (For Regina, too.)

Road to golf, they were grading the road.

At Valle Escondido Golf.

Birdhouse on the golf course.

After leaving golf on the road to Taos.

A trolley bus in Taos.

A glimpse of the Rio Grande Gorge looking west from the highway south of Taos.

Cloudy in the west, just down the road.

An old house and the beautiful clouds.

Some rafters on the Rio Grande.

We drove through Española to Chimayo, but the restaurant,
El Rancho de Chimayó, there isn't open yet. It burned last year, I think, and is still being remodeled. They have a B & B or rooms there, too. These houses down the road on a hill showed some clouds, too.

So, back to Española to eat at El Paragua. A favorite there from our visit four years ago. This is the back of the old building. Nice old ambiance and good New Mexican food.

The sun was going down in the mountains as we were arriving back to Angel Fire. It was amazing, we got in the Explorer in Española and the temperature guage said it was 98 degrees F. As we came up the street to the condo in Angel Fire it showed 58 degrees. Imagine that much change in 66 miles that takes 1 hour 40 minutes. It is showing 46 degrees on my thermometer now, almost midnight.

There is a wonderful restaurant in Chimayo - it sets back in an apple orchard. It is usually busy, but has lots of seating including a huge tierd patio. The rafting is always fun - you should do it. Cisco Guevara is a good friend of ours and owns Los Rios River Runners on the south side of Taos. Sounds like you are having fun what ever you do.
It all looks gorgeous!
I feel like I'm riding in the truck with you. Thanks for the tour. Love the painting of the cowboys below!
bag blog, the restaurant is the same one, Rancho Chimayo. It burned and they are remodeling. Hope it is open before we leave.
Joanna, it is something around here. Big changes in short distance, sort of like in Bolivia between La Paz and the Yungas, eh?
Joan, thanks. It is a great place out here. A big variety of scenery.
