Congratulations to the Texas Longhorns! I guess most of you know that the Longhorns lost the last game of the College World Series and the LSU Tigers won. LSU has a great team and had been number one for most of the year. They are deserving champions. The Longhorns had a great team spirit and they should be so proud of their accomplishments .... we are!! It was the two best teams playing for sure. Both schools have such a history and devoted baseball fans. The players were amazing and the way they played as a team was super.
The Longhorns played their hearts out and we had the most exciting end of a season that I remember since we have been here .. well except for the times we won the College World Series, of course! Some were calling them the Heart Attack Horns. They were amazing in their feats of courage and talent. I'm pretty sure that the team will be back in the heat of things next year as most of the pitchers and players will be back. The team should be so proud of themselves for persevering and making it to the last game. I just hope that they know that the fans were all there in spirit if not in person. Best of luck to the seniors and the drafted players.
You can read a great commentary and all about it on Joanna's Longhorn Baseball Page, the official Horns page and all the other stories you can Google up about the games.
It said in the paper that we will play a weekend series with Rice next year. That should be very intense and fun. I am already having withdrawals and cannot wait for next year. Go, Horns, Go!
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Just a quick note. Texas and Rice will play 3 games in 2010 but they will still be spread apart...one at the Houston Classic and two mid-week games. Beginning in 2011, they'll start trading home-and-home weekend series the way they've been doing with Stanford. I wonder if we'll be losing the Stanford series for this? I hope not. I want both!
Thanks, Joanna. Guess I was so excited I read it wrong! It will be neat and I, too, hope we keep the games with Stanford.
I was thinking of you as we watched each game. Texas did play hard and well. I really thought they would win the last game, but LSU just poured it on at the right moment. Still, it was a great series - thanks for turning us on to college baseball.
Bag Blog, Yes it is always good and you are welcome. Guess we will see you at the Big 12 tournament next year, too!
Jo: So glad the horns did so well, it was a fun series.
Thanks, fishing guy. They were an amazing team this year. It took them a while to get started, then the teamwork really set in. No huge superstars, someone different stepped up when needed. They just ran out of surprises at the end and we were all sure they could do it. Great kids.
