Photos - Baseball, Bikes, Flower

I didn't sketch or paint Yesterday or today. And I haven't posted here either. Here is a bit of what we have been doing.

I didn't even post about the Longhorns sweep of Oklahoma on Sunday. The Horns won all three games against the Sooners. How great was that? The official story is here. Joanna's run down is on Joanna's Longhorn Baseball Page. It is sort of a case of our Texans beating Oklahoma's Texans. They have eighteen players on the roster from Texas. Texas has zero from Oklahoma.

You can see a hug at the front of the line when the players were shaking hands after the game. They probably went to high school together.


After the game they allowed the kids to run the bases again. You can see even a couple of Oklahoma fans got out on the field. (This photo is for Bag Blog and other Oklahoma readers.)

The runners come in all sizes and some of the little ones have a hard time making it all the way around. The slower runners do get passed by.

Sunday was also the MS150, a bike race from Houston to Austin, fundraiser for muscular sclerosis which had 11,000 riders. The first half of the ride was canceled on Saturday because of flooding in the Houston area so they rode from LaGrange 30 miles east of us to Austin. We were caught in the traffic and missed the National Anthem at the baseball game. Son, Larry, was along the route somewhere taking photos.

A shot of the Texas Capitol as we drove by. It is beautiful and is fashioned after the Capitol in Washington, D. C. I understand it is a bit taller, has to be in Texas, right?



We were in traffic on the way home, too, as a big part of the bikers were on their way back to Houston.

Today, Tuesday, the Horns played the Rice Owls. The Longhorns lost 7 - 4. Rice is the number one team right now, but that doesn't make loosing any easier. Check out the story on Joanna's Longhorn Baseball Page.

I didn't take many photos, but I like this one showing the Longhorn pitchers warming up. Brandon Belt is back to cover first base after one of the Owls got on. You see the Wendy's sign offering a free Frosty if the sign is hit by a Longhorn home run. No such luck this year so far. We keep hoping.

This morning we went to the golf course and saw these little flowers. I think they bloom for only one day. Joanna will comment and remind me of the name, right? The day was gorgeous, except that it was about 95 degrees. Ouch!
