Hue Color Test

I have been following Matthew Weld's blog and the other day he posted a test for color hue, "Zero is the Hero". The test is a great one. I failed so miserably the first time that I was thinking that now I sure know the reason my paintings often lack value changes before I check them with a photo in black and white. Today for the post, I took the test again and didn't do as poorly. I got a 20 today. Maybe it is my monitor, right? You might want to check it out and see how you do. Let me know. I have a feeling most of you will do much better than me.

I started reading Matthew's blog about the time he started to paint the master bedroom which led to a much bigger project of a bathroom makeover. Besides the humor there, he makes beautiful jewelry and does beautiful pastel paintings. I think you will agree with me on that.

So check it out and come back here to let me know how you did on the color test.

Hey Jo,

I did this test several months ago...I think I scored somewhere around a 65. Today I scored a 44. So, there is some improvement...but you beat me by a long shot!

Values are my strength, not colors...so I work on the color knowledge, but know that will never be my strength. :D

Be proud of your 22 - it might be several years till I catch up with you. :D

Rose, thank you so much. :) I scored a 77 the first time. Maybe we are sleepy or in a hurry. It isn't easy at any rate.

Woo Hoo! I scored a 12! Got a little off tracks on the pinks.

Teresa, good job. I was off on all of them. I will just blame it on age! Although when I tested they said the best score for my age was Zero. :(

I hate to break it to all you artists but I got a 4. My trouble spots were in the greens. I did take a long time with it, though...at least 15 or 20 minutes.

Joanna, congratulations! The first time I was just there long enough to try it. I probably spent 15 or 20 minutes the second time, I thought I was right the first time. Ha. Thanks for stopping in to let us know. :)
