For Scavenger Hunt #117 I finished a few sketches last night. The list this time is great and simple. One word items like cup, stairs, ball, tree, etc., no thinking involved and it helps sometimes. It is good to sketch without thinking. On the other hand, when we have a list of emotions or colors we have to think and that works our gray matter. That is good, too.
I will host and make the list for a Hunt in February, do you have any ideas? It has to be something that you can find anywhere as we have sketchers all over the world. It can be inside or outside and there needs to be a challenge or two, like using a different media or blind contour drawing. Help me out, will you?

For this hunt: Number 1, stairs - I see these by my computer desk and go up and down many times a day. I should be able to draw them blindfolded. I got the rails out of line, they should go to the edge of the paper or off and it went downhill from there. I didn't want to start over so they look considerably steeper and narrower than they are. Drawn on half page of my sketchbook with a Micron 005 pen.

Number 2, ball - a foul ball Gene caught outside the Disch (UT Baseball stadium) as we were going in to a game. Nick Peoples hit it, so that was a few years ago. I have also drawn it a couple of times before. I was too lazy to go find some other ball. It sits on a leather coozy (koozie) from Bolivia or Peru. Number 3, book - this almanac was by Gene's chair and we didn't have to get up to get another. Wow, too lazy for words. It ran off the page with my poor planning. You can see there was room on the page for the whole book. Argh. About 35 - 40 minutes for the two sketches with the Micron 005 pen.
I didn't paint today. We did go walk our nine holes of golf. Gene won today and it was another lovely day. I think it got up to about eighty degrees.

Jo: Cute sketches, I like the ball on the holder. That is a neat sketch. I will be coming to Texas on Tuesday so maybe we can get together Wednesday of Thursday.
