Turtle Photos

I painted some today, quite a bit in fact. Nothing to show here, sad to say.

We did golf this morning and you might enjoy seeing the turtles this fall.

These few turtles were enjoying the sun. As soon as we get near, they all dive in.

This was the last fellow to enter the water. He posed for a few seconds. I wonder where the one from the last few years is? He/she always just stayed still and didn't hide from people. Hmmm.

At the golf course there have been many trees that have died. The pine trees seem to all turn red, we were told it is some sort of beetle. Some of the cedar trees just loose their leaves and fall over. The landscape staff has also cut much of the under brush. This is all cut and piled ready to burn. It is so dry, that there is a burn ban on, so these big piles just sit there. This pile is probably 30 feet or so in diameter. Lots of firewood!

Are you sure that pile of wood isn't art? I mean...there's a thing that looks very much like that and is almost as big as that outside the Starbucks at 38th and Guadalupe. When I first saw it, I assumed it was a large pile of tree branches waiting to be hauled away. A few days later I saw a little yard sign nearby informing me that it was art. I was, apparently, not the only person to mistake it for something other than art. Just wondering...

Great turtle photos, Jo. Are you painting turtles? That would be fun. Sorry to hear the pine trees are still having a hard time.

Joanna, hmmm. I will mention it to the staff at the golf course. :) The little deer hang out near there, so they have a "live" component as well.

Regina, no, no painting of turtles. They are very interesting. One of those things that are so ugly they are cute. The largest in the photo has about a 16 inch long shell. Pretty large. Yes, sad for the trees. Removing lots of our hazards on the course!

Hi Juanita, thank you. I just have to take photos of those turtles every once in a while. Fascinating creatures.

Jo: Nice shot of the turtles, they are so hard to get unless they are sunning.
Thanks for your comment, very nice of you.

Last year Toby accidentally rolled a big round bale of hay into the pond. The turtles loved it - it made a great island to sun themselvs on, and I enjoyed watching them.
