Paint the Town in Annapolis Royal Memories

I received an e-mail recently from Richard Rudnicki, artist in Nova Scotia, about his venture in Annapolis Royal this year during Paint the Town. Richard sketches daily from memory and then posts one sketch a week on his blog. Another inspiring artist that has influenced my sketching, be sure and have a look.

Ah, what good memories. We were in Nova Scotia in 2003 and someone mentioned they were going to Paint the Town at Annapolis Royal. We checked it out and the paint out was still accepting artists to sign up to paint. Gene told me to go for it. What a great time we had.

Richard and Jo at Fisherman's Cove, 2003

I had corresponded with Richard about his cabin that he rents. We were acquainted only by e-mail. I called him to see if he was going to Annapolis Royal and he was, so we got to meet and visit a little during Paint the Town. He invited me to go paint with his plein air group as well. I did that a week or so later. We met at Fishermen's Cove near Dartmouth.

You can read about our adventures and see more photos on my Road Sketches page here. Scroll down to the section after the Austin Pastel Society Bee Caves paint out.

Isn't it fun to make friends and paint together? These times make for great learning experiences.
