Happy Birthday Gene!

Happy Birthday Gene!

This is what Gene will be doing today, riding his age on his bicycle. Wow. I can not even imagine ten miles.

Some of the things Gene enjoys:

Gene at golf here in Silver City.

His real favorite pass time is reading. Even when he rode his bike to where Sue and I were painting a couple of years ago.

Gene at a UT Baseball game in Houston, at Rice.

Gene, I hope your birthday ride is a great success and you enjoy the golf in El Paso and the food in Las Cruces. I am happy to support you and be your SAG car driver. :)

Happy Birthday!!

Jo: Pass on a hearty Happy birthday to Gene. I can't imagine taking that ride either.

Give Gene a Happy Birthday greeting from me. I'm impressed with the distance he can ride!!! All the best...

Happy birthday to Dad from me, too. Of course. :)

For those that are following along, I talked to them both about 20 minutes ago and Dad had done 38 miles and was feeling good. 'Said he might even get 100 miles in today. That's a little insane, if you ask me.

Good luck, Dad!

'Just got another update. Dad rode 80.2 miles. He was hampered by rain or would've done more. Woo hoo!!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. Gene says hi and thank you. We are working on the second birthday dinner tonight. We went to Landry's in El Paso, Texas, last night. Tonight we are in Old Mesilla, Las Cruces, New Mexico, for some good food at La Cocina.

Fishing guy, thanks. I would even take fishing over biking. :)

Joan, thank you so much.

Joanna, thanks for keeping up the posts and your Dad says Hi!

Leslie, you are so funny. Gene says he isn't sore today, except for his bottom! He made up his 11 miles he was short last year and a little more for the bank. :)

Juanita, thank you, too. Hugs.

Congrats to Gene on his birthday and his bike ride. I sure wish I had been eating at the La Cocina with you - sounds great!

Bag Blog, thanks for Gene. He did well! We ate so well here in Cruces at El Comedor. I had the name wrong, guess it is the pint sized margaritas or something. :) Very good.

The margaritas at El Comedor are not pint sized they are liter sized!

Jo Castillo said...

Gene, I was trying to keep the size reasonable sounding. :) Whatever they are it takes both hands to hold the glass. :) I only need one!

Ummmmm. I remember margaritas. Gave those up long ago but they sure were tasty. My limit was one also. No harm tho if I had more as I would just get giggly. Happy late birthday wishes Gene. I'm glad it is you on the bike rather than me. I will cheer from the sidelines.

Jeanne, Gene will appreciate the good wishes. I cheer from the sidelines, too. I can't give up the margaritas and wine.

Happy Birthday, Gene! You share it with my sister, Patty, so we were in birthday mode that day, though I didn't know we were celebrating yours, too. Hope this is the best year ever.

Jo Castillo said...

Susan, A belated happy birthday to Patty. We always over celebrate. We had two dinners one that night and one the next. We will celebrate mine in Silver City and then we will celebrate both with our children when we get back to Texas, so tell Patty to be prepared....... none of these one day birthdays around here. :)
