Last of the Mexican Hats, photos, wildflowers

It seems that it is the end of some of the wildflowers for the season. There will be more, but mostly yellow junk and they are sometimes categorized. I hope you like these, of course they don't compare to Joanna's and Larry's fine work. Sigh.

The Mexican Hats were few and far between this year. The petals look like velvet. Beautiful color and texture.

The Indian Paintbrush are about gone, too. The bluebonnets are long gone.

The Indian Blankets are so vivid. We saw some and I took photos as they fade. They turn a little beige and from a distance they look yellow.

The primroses are shriveling as well. They are so delicate and flutter in the wind, a little bit wispy.

The cactus pears are coming out. The blooms are a favorite of mine. Of course, if the fruit ripens it is delicious as well.

Great color combinations.

The countryside is just gorgeous at the moment. All green and not much dried up grass yet. The temperature is in the high eighties though and soon the tips will be brown and heading out.
Some cattle just a mile or so from the house. You don't see any pine trees there, do you?

More cows. This is the same place where I painted the trees in the winter, you see there that the grass was mature and dry.

Thank you, Joanna. Your bluebonnet was exquisite!

Regina, thanks. I think they might have been laying over further and I got a little off balance. They are in the newspaper today, Ratibida columnifera. Maybe I will paint some cows. :)

GREAT photos, Jo! Makes me wish I painted landscapes.

Thanks, Susan. Ah, you have a few landscapes under your belt. I like to paint them there and not from photos and don't get out there, so don't get them painted either.
